JMEV01 electric supercar only 41,350 USD, about to be sold "next door" to Vietnam

The Chinese market will welcome the electric JMEV01 2025 (formerly known as the SC-01) when it officially launches on April 15. Developed by auto customization specialist Gongjiang Pai and manufactured by Jiangling Group New Energy, the two-seater electric vehicle is expected to cost less than 300,000 yuan (about $41,350).

The JMEV01 electric sports car boasts impressive specs for an entry-level electric supercar. Its dual-motor setup delivers a total output of 320 kW (435 hp), allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

The CALB 3-cell lithium battery provides a CLTC-rated range of 520 km. Engineers prioritized weight savings, using a tubular spaceframe and pushrod suspension to keep the curb weight to 1,365 kg, remarkably light for an EV.

The coupe measures 4,106mm long, 1,830mm wide and 1,170mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,503mm. The production model retains the concept's aggressive styling, including sleek LED headlights, blacked-out C-pillars that create a floating roof effect, and distinctive round taillights.

The car's interior eschews modern touchscreens in favor of physical controls, including a manual handbrake — a rare feature in electric cars these days.

The minimalist dashboard features a rotary gear selector and only essential driving aids like cruise control and parking sensors.

Originally launched in September 2022 as the “SC-01 small sports car,” the Xiaomi-backed project has already collected orders with a modest deposit of 199 yuan ($27.5).

Now branded as JMEV (a unit of JMC), the SC-01 is part of a joint venture in which Renault's 2019 RMB 1 billion investment (50% stake) failed, leading to the company's complete withdrawal in 2023.
