With the spirit of "sharing food and clothes", the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) has launched the program "Non-profit goods for people and organizations providing relief to flood areas". Specifically, the unit has prepared nutritious fast food portions and personal care bags for men and women with prices ranging from only 30,000 - 100,000 VND/portion, including: purified water, milk, sausages, rice cakes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, personal items... This is the cost price that the enterprise sells to people, rescue forces, and charity organizations in storm and flood areas.
Mr. Vu Anh Khoa, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saigon Co.op, said that in order to support provinces and cities affected by storms and floods, the company has increased the supply of essential goods, especially food, vegetables, fruits, and consumer goods at the best stable prices, even below cost price, and must ensure food hygiene and safety.
"For isolated localities, the unit supports the government in transporting goods to highland, remote and disadvantaged areas as requested, so as not to lose goods or increase prices. In addition, to share with the people, the unit also launched a campaign to support funds to support people in storm and flood areas. Specifically, the unit has given 1,000 gifts to people in difficult circumstances in Bac Giang, Phu Tho and Hai Phong," Mr. Vu Anh Khoa added.
Similarly, a representative of KIDO Group Corporation also said that the unit has implemented a buy 2 get 1 free program for any products for volunteer groups when purchasing products to help flood victims. The program is expected to last until the end of September. In addition, the unit also gave tens of thousands of buns, thousands of boxes of fresh cakes and biscuits to people in the flood-affected areas in the North. The total value of support and sharing with people in the flood-affected areas is more than 1 billion VND.
Vietnam Livestock Corporation (Vissan) has also implemented a 5-20% discount policy for organizations and units that need to buy products to support people in the North. According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An, General Director of Vissan, to share with people in flood-hit areas, the unit also donated nearly 500 million VND, including both in kind and cash.
In addition to supporting selling prices, since September 11, many food and food production enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City have also continuously organized activities to donate milk, cakes, water, instant noodles, processed foods, etc. to provinces and cities heavily affected by Typhoon Yagi. Specifically, Vinamilk Company has supported nearly 3 billion VND, equivalent to more than 550,000 essential nutritional products such as fresh milk, nut milk, condensed milk, drinking water for people and children in the flood-hit areas of the Northern provinces; Central Retail Vietnam Group supported 10,000 packages (each package includes 1 box of noodles, 1 box of purified drinking water) for families affected by storms and floods, with a total cost of about 1.25 billion VND...
In recent days, the supply chains of large distribution systems such as Saigon Co.op, Central Retail, MM Mega Market, Wincommerce... have focused resources to supply goods to provinces and cities affected by storm No. 3 and floods after the storm. Accordingly, the supermarket systems GO! and Big C have increased the supply of vegetables of all kinds by 100% compared to normal days. On average, each truck from Da Lat to the Central and Northern regions delivers 40 tons/trip, now increasing to 75 - 80 tons/trip.
Up to now, Central Retail Vietnam (owner of GO!, Big C supermarket chains) has transported dozens of shipments to GO!, Big C supermarkets in the North, with about 300 tons of vegetables and fruits. Promotional programs to get good prices are still applied by this supermarket chain to share the difficulties with people in flood-hit areas.
Similarly, the MM Mega Market system is also increasing its food reserves, ensuring that there is enough fresh goods such as vegetables, fruits, pork, etc. to all the provinces and cities in the Northern mountainous region. The representative of the MM Mega Market system said that for a long time, the unit has focused on building a closed supply chain and has been strongly reinforced by 5 purchasing and supplying stations, 2 large warehouses in Binh Duong, and 6 B2B delivery warehouses (Depots) from the Central region to the North such as Phan Thiet, Dong Hoi, Thanh Hoa, Sapa, etc. Thanks to that, the stock of goods can supply up to 1 month to the North. In addition, the unit also has a system of small trucks delivering goods at Depots that can transport goods to neighboring areas.
As an essential food industry that is constantly increasing its supply to people in the northern provinces, Mr. Le Xuan Huy, Deputy General Director of CP Vietnam Company, said that every day CP supplies the national market with more than 18,000 pigs and 600,000 - 700,000 chickens. Therefore, the company's food supply is still stable, despite the impact of natural disasters.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An also said that currently, there is no shortage of goods supply for the Northern market. Vissan's factory in Bac Ninh is always ready to work overtime, while the branch in Hanoi manages more than 110 distributors in the provinces and cities that are operating stably. On the other hand, the company maintains a production policy with enough inventory to supply for 10-20 consecutive days to ensure shopping for people in flooded areas. Therefore, people in the Northern provinces can rest assured that goods will be continuously supplied despite high shopping demand.
