Super high-speed ship with capacity of over 1,000 passengers returns to run on the Ho Chi Minh City

A representative of Phu Quoc Express Joint Stock Company said the company is developing a plan to re-operate the Thang Long high-speed boat, with a capacity of 1,017 passengers on the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route and vice versa.

This high-speed train line was previously in operation on May 13 and temporarily suspended on July 29 due to many shortcomings in traffic access. The investor requested to temporarily suspend the operation to continue completion.

To date, the investor said that the unit has extended the operation of the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao waterway passenger transport route and the Ministry of Construction has issued a document approving the extension. The enterprise is applying for a license to resume operations, and is expected to put the Thang Long ship back into operation on the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao high-speed ferry route from mid-April.

Currently, Thang Long Express is operating on the Vung Tau - Con Dao route with a frequency of 1 trip per day from Vung Tau to Con Dao or vice versa. If licensed to resume the Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao route, this unit is expected to operate alternately between Ho Chi Minh City - Con Dao - Vung Tau.

Specifically, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the Thang Long Express will depart from Vung Tau to Con Dao (travel time is about 3 hours and 30 minutes). Then, in the afternoon of the same day, it will turn around and move from Con Dao to Ho Chi Minh City. On Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the Thang Long Express will depart from Saigon - Hiep Phuoc port at around 7am to Con Dao and at around 1pm on the same day, it will turn around and move from Con Dao - Vung Tau. Travel time from Saigon - Hiep Phuoc port to Con Dao or vice versa is expected to be nearly 5 hours.

The investor said that in the coming time, the weather is expected to be favorable and the sea is calm, so the Thang Long high-speed train will operate stably, possibly faster than expected. The parallel operation of the two routes aims to increase the exploitation capacity, add more choices and better serve tourists when coming to Con Dao by sea.

Recently, the HCM City Department of Transport and Thanh Thanh Phat Passenger Transport Company Limited also launched a waterway transport route from HCM City to Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) at Bach Dang Wharf Park. Thanh Thanh Phat Passenger Transport Company Limited said that the first boat route departing on March 29 is currently fully booked. Passengers have proactively booked tickets early. On weekdays, there are still seats available for passengers to choose from.
