BYD boss boasts - Denza Z9 GT is "10 times better" than Mercedes, BMW

Stella Li’s ambitious statement about the Denza Z9 GT is not without foundation – the first model bearing the Denza logo officially launched in Europe carries great expectations from BYD. Denza is an automobile brand located between BYD and the super luxury car line YangWang, positioned to compete directly with high-end car brands in Europe.

Previously, Denza was a joint project between BYD and Daimler (Mercedes-Benz's parent company), but is now completely operated and developed independently by BYD. With this strategic move, BYD is showing its determination to expand its presence in the global luxury car market.

The electric Denza Z9 GT will be the first Denza-branded car to hit the European market, expected to start rolling out later this year. The competitors this model is aiming for are not “lightweight”: Audi A6 Avant, BMW 5-Series Touring, Audi A6 Avant e-tron or BMW i5 Touring – icons in the luxury wagon segment in Europe.

The Z9 GT has a sharp, European look that still has a futuristic feel. Behind that look is an impressive powertrain: three electric motors combined for a maximum output of up to 952 horsepower.

With this configuration, the Denza Z9 GT not only challenges luxury wagon models, but also approaches the world of high-performance sports cars.

In addition to the pure electric version, Denza also introduced a plug-in hybrid version (PHEV) using a 2.0L internal combustion engine combined with an electrical system, for a total capacity of 858 horsepower.

Not only is it powerful, the Denza Z9 GT also possesses unique technologies that, according to Ms. Stella Li, “other long-standing brands do not have”. One of the most interesting features is the ability to move sideways and “rotate the compass” to park.

It is unclear how much the car will cost in Europe, but in its home country of China, the Denza Z9 GT is priced from $45,800 to $56,800, while Porsche models start from $138,000 and up. If it maintains this pricing strategy in Europe, Denza will be a competitor that the German giants will have to be wary of.
