Duathlon in Kep (Cambodia) is the event that the Vietnamese duathlon team puts all their hopes on Pham Tien San. In this event, he and his competitors start by running 10 km, cycling 40 km and then running 5 km to the finish line. This is one of the most difficult sports, but Pham Tien San does not hesitate to pursue it. Pham Tien San has been runner-up 3 times in the 3000 m obstacle course at the SEA Games in 2013, 2015, 2017. After that, he "upgraded" his challenge with the 2-event combination event and the result after months of training was the gold medal at the 31st SEA Games last year.
To prepare for the 32nd SEA Games, Pham Tien San went to many places for training with different terrains from Da Lat, Phan Thiet to Kien Giang near Kep (Cambodia).
Pham Tien San and his teammate Ha Van Nhat started competing at 6:30 this morning. With a reasonable strategy, he finished first and successfully defended his biathlon gold medal. This is the 7th gold medal of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 32nd SEA Games.
Winning the silver medal in this tough event was Sokha Michael Chaumond (Cambodia), the bronze medal belonged to Sedilta Pilon Nubatonis (Indonesia).
