Hanoi has agreed on the investment plan to build a road connecting Gia Binh airport (Bac Ninh province) with Hanoi. At the same time, it will study the construction of a metro line from Hanoi to the above airport.

On February 17, the Office of the Hanoi People 's Committee issued Notice No. 57 on the conclusion of Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People 's Committee Duong Duc Tuan on the plan to build a road connecting Gia Binh airport (Bac Ninh province) with the capital Hanoi.
Specifically, implementing the Central Government's direction on the investment policy to build a route connecting Gia Binh airport (Bac Ninh province) with Hanoi, the Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Department of Planning and Architecture to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, units, and Bac Ninh province and the Transport Design Consulting Corporation - TEDI (the unit assigned by the Ministry of Transport to study the plan) to study the options for building the route.
Mr. Tuan said that the Hanoi People's Committee basically agreed on the route plan connecting Gia Binh airport (Bac Ninh province) to the center of Hanoi (the route section in Hanoi city) - option 1 according to the proposal of the Department of Planning and Architecture.
Specifically, the total length of the Bac Ninh - Hanoi route is 49.52km. Of which, the length of the route through Hanoi is 28.58km (including 8.06km of the new route; the section coinciding with the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway/ring road 3, Tu Lien bridge road is about 20.54km).
Also according to the above announcement, the two provinces and cities of Hanoi and Bac Ninh have agreed that the above route will have a cross-section scale of 100-120m (choosing 120m to match the scale of Bac Ninh province, which is expected to be adjusted from 142m to 120m); expanding the research on urban development space along both sides of the road from 300-400m.
At the same time, agree to propose studying the urban railway route along the route connecting Gia Binh airport to Hanoi city center (section in Hanoi).
Previously, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province proposed converting Gia Binh airport into an airport with a planned capacity of 1 - 3 million passengers/year, with a reserve capacity expansion of about 5 million passengers/year.
