A new injection promises to dramatically slow down the ageing process. It is hoped to be a breakthrough in longevity, with the potential to improve joints, the heart, vision and maintain muscle mass, according to the Express .
It can even help reduce graying of your hair and prevent age-related hair loss.
A new injection promises to dramatically reduce the signs of aging.
The product from Singaporean startup VVB Bio works by targeting a cytokine protein called IL-11.
We discovered this cytokine by accident. In an experiment, we noticed that as mice and humans age, the amount of this protein interleukin 11, or IL-11, increases.
He said this protein causes the following harmful effects:
- Causes disease in tissues
- Causes fibrosis
- Causes the kidneys to stop functioning properly.
- Causes hearing and vision to stop working
- Causes gray hair and hair loss.
All of these are signs of aging, which usually happens as you get older.
This is where a new injection comes in that aims to delete the IL11 gene.
Sebastian Schäfer, co-founder of VVB Bio, explains that they are currently creating an injectable antibody treatment.
You can get one shot for six months, he said. The antibodies bind to IL-11 and neutralize it. Thereby eliminating all its harmful effects in the body.
Scientists explain that the injection will improve your health and give you a significantly younger biological age.
This expert notes that there is a difference between chronological age and biological age. For example, a 47-year-old who smokes, drinks, overeats and rarely gets enough sleep may have a biological age of 57. But a 47-year-old who eats carrots, gets enough sleep and runs every day, would have a biological age of 42.
Based on this, the researchers conducted experiments on mice divided into two groups: one group had the IL11 gene deleted through genetic modification and the other group received a placebo.
They found that the genetically modified mice aged less than half as fast as normal mice. That's a huge reduction.

Furthermore, the authors suggest that the results may apply to humans.
“We found that the IL-11-related things were the same in mice and humans,” Cook said. “We believe that in humans, inhibiting the IL-11 gene would produce all the same effects. Less age-related obesity, better retention of muscle mass, better joints, a healthier heart, better eyesight, less gray hair and less hair loss. ”
The manufacturers expect production of the new drug to begin next year, with clinical trials beginning in 2025. Depending on the results, the anti-aging antibody treatment for IL-11 could be commercialized around the end of the decade.
