Mega International Travel Company (Nian Dai Travel), the operator of We Love Tour, was expelled from the Taiwan Tourism Quality Assurance Association on February 16. In an interview with NOWnews , Ms. Wu Mei-hui, Secretary General of the Taiwan Tourism Quality Assurance Association, pointed out that if Nian Dai Travel does not pay the required amount of NT$1.5 million, the Taiwan Tourism Administration will revoke its operating license.

On the afternoon of February 16, the agency announced that Nien Dai Travel had a foreign debt of more than 10 million NTD (about 8 billion VND), including a group of tourists traveling to Phu Quoc Island who were charged back tour fees, causing damage to the rights and interests of tourists. As a result, the company was suspended from business for 3 months.

David Lin, General Director of Nien Dai Travel, admitted that there was no compensation for tourists and that contracts could not be fulfilled.

However, last night, the Taiwan Tourism Quality Assurance Association announced that Nian Dai Travel could not fulfill the contract due to financial difficulties and was ordered to cease operations. This was also a way to prevent further expansions that could potentially harm the rights and interests of tourists, while maintaining the safety of transactions, in accordance with the terms of the association. Due to the reason of "having a large debt and the matter is still being processed", Nian Dai Travel had to leave the association from February 16.

Ms. Ngo My Hue said that initially, General Director David Lin of Nien Dai Travel affirmed that there was no financial problem and that it could be handled, but after a whole day yesterday, Mr. Lin personally wrote a letter saying that the debt could not be resolved, there was no compensation for the guests, and the contract to depart for the tour could not be fulfilled (synonymous with declaring bankruptcy).

After Nien Dai Travel leaves the association, it is required by law to pay a security deposit of NT$1.5 million to the competent authority; otherwise, its business license will be revoked. In addition, the company has NT$10 million worth of insurance to ensure contract performance, so the association will do its best to assist travelers in claiming compensation.

Tourists return to Taoyuan airport on tour of 292 abandoned

Speaking to Thanh Nien , Mr. Ha Tuan Minh, Director of Winner Vietnam International Travel Company, the unit that spent more than 3 billion VND to "rescue" the group of 292 tourists abandoned in Phu Quoc, said that We Love Tour's "declaration of bankruptcy" made the company "devastated". According to the commitment, the 3 billion VND cost of serving the group was scheduled to be paid on February 26, but with the current situation, Mr. Minh said it was likely to be lost. "We are hoping that the authorities will support us in getting back the money from We Love Tour's security deposit (from 10 million NTD - PV)", Mr. Minh shared.

We Love Tour also owes many Vietnamese partners, including Ziontour in Da Nang, nearly 80,000 USD.
