Early season DONA durian has high price

This year's durian crop, due to unfavorable weather conditions, is 1-2 months late compared to the same period last year. Currently, most gardeners have not harvested durian. However, a few gardeners growing durian in the province have begun to harvest the first fruit of the season in small quantities. Of which, the early-season DONA durian variety has a high price, currently traders buy grade 1 durian at the garden for 85-90 thousand VND/kg; grade 2 is only half the price of grade 1 durian. Ri6 durian has almost not been harvested yet.

Many durian farmers in the province often choose to prune off unqualified young fruits, leaving only large, even, and beautiful fruits to increase the percentage of grade 1 fruits, instead of chasing productivity as before. Currently, the durian area in the province has reached more than 12.6 thousand hectares, of which the DONA durian variety occupies the largest area, accounting for more than 50% of the total area; followed by the Ri6 durian variety, accounting for about 45% of the total area; the rest are a number of other durian varieties.
