According to some pork shop owners, the above price has been maintained since February 8 (December 29) until now, because the slaughterhouses have not resumed operations, and the wholesale market traders have not been as busy as usual. "The wholesale stalls are still on Tet holiday, there are few goods but many buyers so the price is high, but we do not make much profit", said Mr. Nguyen Thuan, the owner of a pork shop on Luy Ban Bich Street.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thy, living in Hoa Hung (District 10), during Tet, everyone is resting and having fun, while vendors are working extra, so a slight increase in food and drink prices is acceptable.
Information from Satra, Saigon Co.op, MM Mega Market, GO!, BigC... systems of vegetables, fruits, poultry, and seafood of all kinds are being "replenished" continuously to serve people's shopping needs after Tet.
Most of the above supermarkets are only closed on the first day of Tet, but have started selling again since the second day (some supermarkets sell from morning to noon, some until 3pm...) and are expected to open as normal from the fifth day onwards.
Mr. Le Van Tien, Director of Hoc Mon Agricultural Products and Food Wholesale Market Management and Trading Company Limited, said that the amount of goods arriving at the market from February 10 to 14 (the first to the fifth day of Lunar New Year) reached about 700 tons/day and night, equivalent to 30% compared to normal days. The amount of goods arriving at the market decreased due to the Lunar New Year holiday of collective kitchens, export processing zones, industrial parks... in Ho Chi Minh City.
"From February 15, the 6th day of the Lunar New Year, the amount of goods arriving at the market will gradually increase. From February 24, the 15th day of the first lunar month, the amount of goods arriving at the market will return to normal," Mr. Le Van Tien informed.
Similarly, the leaders of Thu Duc and Binh Dien wholesale markets also said that the amount of goods coming to the market has decreased sharply by 60%-70% compared to normal days, due to the consumption needs of people, as well as collective kitchens during the Lunar New Year holiday. However, the amount of goods is still abundant, the prices are stable, enough to supply people in Ho Chi Minh City as well as some neighboring localities.
