On June 25, at the 21st session of the People's Council of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, resolutions were passed approving the policy of rearranging administrative units at district and commune levels for the 2023 - 2025 period of this province.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Council resolved to merge the natural area and population size of Long Dien district into Dat Do district, named Long Dat district, with a natural area of ​​267.42 km2 and a population of 241,501 people.

Long Dat - is the district name of more than 20 years ago when it was split into two districts, Long Dien and Dat Do today.

For commune-level administrative units, the People's Council of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province also resolved to merge the natural area and population size of Loc An commune, Dat Do district into Phuoc Hoi commune, Dat Do district, named Phuoc Hoi commune, Long Dat district.

Merge the natural area and population size of Long My commune, Dat Do district into Phuoc Hai town, Dat Do district, named Phuoc Hai town, Long Dat district.

Merge the natural area and population size of 3 communes: An Nhut, An Ngai and Tam Phuoc of Long Dien district into 1 commune, named Tam An commune, Long Dat district.

With the above arrangement, Long Dat district has 11 commune-level administrative units, including 7 communes and 4 towns.

For Ba Ria city, merge the natural area and population size of Phuoc Hiep ward into Phuoc Trung ward, named Phuoc Trung ward.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has a third city

Also at this session, the People's Council of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province decided to establish Toc Tien, Tan Hoa and Tan Hai wards on the basis of the original area and population of the communes of the same name.

Thereby, approving the policy of establishing Phu My City on the basis of the entire natural area, population size and 10 commune-level administrative units of Phu My town (8 wards: Phu My, My Xuan, Hac Dich, Tan Phuoc, Phuoc Hoa, Toc Tien, Tan Hoa, Tan Hai and 2 communes: Song Xoai, Chau Pha).

Thus, after the establishment of Phu My City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has 3 cities: Vung Tau, Ba Ria and Phu My.

Mr. Mai Ngoc Thuan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, said that after more than 20 years of establishment and development, Long Dien and Dat Do districts have changed their appearance and have had strong transformations in all socio-economic activities.

However, both districts and some commune-level administrative units do not meet the requirements in terms of natural area and population size, so arrangements must be made to ensure proper implementation of the provisions of Resolution No. 35/2023/UBTVQH15 of 2023 of the National Assembly Standing Committee.
