With this achievement, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation has awarded the Vietnamese women's volleyball team 200 million VND. After this championship, what goals will the Vietnamese women's volleyball team aim for this year? The performance of the Vietnamese team in the last tournament was commendable, as they showed their superiority over the rest. Even against Kazakhstan, an opponent who had caused many difficulties in the past, the Vietnamese girls easily defeated them in two encounters in the group stage and the final of the AVC Challenge Cup 2024. That shows that the professional quality of the Vietnamese team at this time is better than before. However, it should be noted that the AVC Challenge Cup is only a second-class tournament for Asian women's volleyball. Therefore, the teams participating in the tournament are not in the top of the continent. Only Kazakhstan was in the top 4 of Asia before the tournament. Meanwhile, the strongest women's volleyball teams in the region, China, Japan, Thailand and South Korea, are participating in the Nations League (VNL) - a higher-level tournament that brings together the strongest teams in the world. The AVC Challenge Cup championship helped the Vietnamese women's volleyball team move up from 40th to 36th in the world. However, they have not been able to get a ticket to the VNL. Instead, the Vietnamese team has only won the right to participate in the international tournament FIVB Challenger Cup.
The FIVB Challenger Cup 2024 will feature 8 teams. The teams will enter the tournament from the quarter-finals and the first match between the host Philippines and Vietnam has been determined. The three other teams that have qualified are Argentina (South America), Kenya (Africa), Puerto Rico (North, Central America and the Caribbean). The three teams that have yet to be determined will include two teams from Europe and one team based on the world rankings. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team must win the championship in this tournament to directly participate in the VNL next year. This is not an easy task when many strong teams will also participate in the FIVB Challenger Cup. However, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team can aim for at least one victory when meeting the host Philippines in the quarter-finals. This is an opponent that is considered weaker than the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. To prepare for the FIVB Challenger Cup 2024, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will soon have a training trip to Tam Dao. The 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup will take place next July. And this will be the last time this tournament is held. From next year, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) will cancel this tournament and will base on the world rankings to select teams to participate in the VNL.
