The eastern mobile road of Cu Lao Cham is about 10.7km long, extending from Bai Bac intersection to Bai Huong, about 3.5m wide, completely concreted, completed and put into use in 2015.
However, storm No. 4 made landfall in September 2022, causing landslides in many sections of this road. Although it has been cleared many times, there are still many points that have not been completely cleared, with more than 30 landslides recorded.
In particular, the section from Eo Gio intersection to Bai Huong has many large landslides, many sections of the road have collapsed, large rocks are blocking the road. There are sections where the lower part of the road falls into the sea and has collapsed close to the road surface, and there are sections where motor vehicles cannot pass.

At the intersection of Cu Lao Cham Lighthouse Station, there was also a large landslide, with rocks and soil spilling onto the road, disrupting traffic from Eo Gio to Bai Huong. On the road from Eo Gio to Bai Bac, there were fewer landslides, however, about 300m northwest of Eo Gio, there was a large landslide, disrupting traffic from Eo Gio to Bai Bac.
According to the leader of Hoi An City People's Committee, due to the geological characteristics of Cu Lao Cham, after several repairs, the landslides became more severe than before. This landslide also prevented tourists from visiting and enjoying the route as well as the stops associated with the relics and scenic spots along the route.

According to a representative of the Provincial Military Command, this is a combined national defense and civilian road. Due to geological factors and the prolonged severe rainy season, there are still scattered landslides due to the influence of thunderstorms.
The provincial Military Command requested the authorities to soon clear the route for traffic, ensure safety for people, and ensure defense patrol activities to protect the island. If implemented, all resources must be urgently mobilized within 3 months to ensure completion before this year's rainy season.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Thai Binh requested the Department of Construction to coordinate with the Provincial Military Command to conduct a detailed survey to urgently develop a plan to handle landslide locations to ensure the entire route is clear, while serving people's traffic and ensuring smooth national defense patrol work.
"Relevant agencies must promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee on construction plans and appropriate engineering solutions for early implementation, ensuring completion of repairs before the rainy season, avoiding landslides on this road to the point where it cannot be repaired," Mr. Phan Thai Binh emphasized.
