On the afternoon of September 22, Mr. Ngan Van Lon - Chairman of the People's Committee of Trung Ly commune, Muong Lat district (Thanh Hoa) said that on the morning of the same day, a working delegation of the district People's Committee and commune leaders inspected Trung Ly Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

Here, the working group discovered that the hill area behind the student boarding house had many large cracks, landslides, and rocks collapsing into the walls and student rooms.

The cause was due to prolonged rain and floods in the locality over the past few days, causing landslides into the positive slope of the student boarding house (15 dormitory rooms).

On the afternoon of September 22, the leaders of Muong Lat District People's Committee directed the Trung Ly Commune government, officers and soldiers of Trung Ly Border Guard Station, people of Tao village, Trung Ly commune and teachers of Trung Ly Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities to transport personal belongings and evacuate 214 students to a temporary classroom area (2 floors) during the rainy and flood days, to ensure the safety of students.

On the afternoon of September 22, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Duy Thuy - principal of Trung Ly Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities said that so far, the flood has caused landslides into 3 student rooms in the boarding house built with prefabricated houses.

In addition, the landslide is also threatening many other rooms in the student dormitory, so this area has been closed.

"Currently, the school has 460 students staying in the dormitory from the beginning of the week to the end of the week. Today is the weekend, so 246 students went home to visit their families in remote villages, while 214 students stayed in the dormitory.

The school is worried that next week, the students who go home on weekends will return to the dormitory, while the classroom area where 214 students are temporarily staying will not be able to accommodate 460 students.

Tonight, the school will still cook enough meals for the students staying at school. Parents can rest assured that their children have been evacuated to a safe place," said Mr. Nguyen Duy Thuy.

It is known that due to complicated flood situation, Muong Lat district has just announced that students in the whole district will be off school tomorrow, September 23.
