On January 5, the Vietnam Road Administration organized a training course on the use of new traffic simulation software for Departments of Transport, training facilities, and testing centers.
The new software was adjusted and upgraded by the Department of Roads after receiving feedback from students and Departments of Transport about the old software "puzzling" candidates and not being realistic.

In the new software, the Department of Roads has adjusted the graphics of some situations with blurry, low-resolution images, improving image quality to help learners easily identify situations.
With the software for the exam, the Department adjusted the countdown time between situations from 3 seconds to 10 seconds to give students more time to prepare; adjusted to not allow double-clicking on the video; when opening the software, the interface takes up the entire screen.
An important point to help reduce the difficulty of the test is to extend the scoring time frame (from 5 points to 0 points) so that learners have more time to recognize and operate the computer keyboard.
The review software is also supplemented and displays the name of each situation for learners to recognize; buttons are added to allow switching to previous/next situations, displaying scoring bars and flags for each situation; the mock test is designed with the same interface as the test for learners to get familiar with.
It is expected that from February 1, driving training facilities and testing centers will update new traffic simulation software to serve learning and testing purposes.
Previously, in June 2022, the Department of Roads began implementing driving tests using computer simulation software.
The simulation test is considered by many to be unrealistic, "puzzling" to candidates and relying heavily on "memorizing answers". The answers themselves are controversial because they are set according to the subjective ideas of the test makers.
