Workshop to propose solutions for Dien Bien tourism to remove "bottlenecks" and develop sustainably

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), the national scientific conference “Dien Bien promotes its potential and advantages for sustainable tourism development” will take place on the morning of March 17 in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province. The event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province and the National Political Publishing House Truth.

This is a scientific activity to effectively implement Resolution No. 08-NQ/TW of the 12th Politburo on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector; Resolution No. 03-NQ/TW of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee on tourism development to 2025, with a vision to 2030; practically celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), 115th anniversary of the establishment of Dien Bien province (October 10, 1949 - October 10, 2024)...

The national scientific conference "Dien Bien promotes potential and advantages for sustainable tourism development" is an important activity in the series of events opening the National Tourism Year 2024 with the theme "Glory of Dien Bien Phu - Endless experiences".

This is also a forum for managers, policy makers, and tourism experts to analyze and evaluate the potential and effectiveness of tourism development resources in the overall socio-economic picture of Dien Bien.

Delegates will evaluate the achieved results, clarify the "bottlenecks" and "knots" in the development of Dien Bien tourism, and at the same time forecast the impact factors, on that basis find solutions to promote and effectively exploit the core values of Dien Bien to develop tourism comprehensively, quickly and sustainably, attracting a large number of tourists and satisfying them.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Dien Bien has majestic and poetic nature; heroic history, unique culture, fresh climate, and is a place where the quintessence of the Northwest mountains converge. This is the important potential and strength that helps Dien Bien rise strongly and make a breakthrough in tourism development with many unique products.

In addition to the advantages of historical and spiritual tourism, the province also has the strength to develop community, ecological, cultural, culinary, and discovery tourism... Dien Bien has 19 ethnic groups living there, creating many unique and attractive traditional cultural values in terms of customs, practices, production, activities, beliefs, and folk festivals that are being preserved, honored, and developed, becoming typical cultural features, including the Hoa Ban Festival and Thanh Ban Phu Festival...

However, reality shows that Dien Bien is still facing major “bottlenecks” that prevent its potential and strengths from being fully exploited. Therefore, the province needs to find solutions to overcome difficulties and promote them more strongly in the coming time.

Dien Bien strives to welcome 1.3 million tourists in 2024; total revenue from tourism activities reaches 2,200 billion VND; contributing to breakthrough development in tourism, creating momentum for socio-economic development of the province in the following years.

National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 also contributes to stimulating domestic and international tourism, restoring tourism activities, creating a step to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector and building Dien Bien province into one of the tourist centers of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.

Dien Bien National Tourism Year 2024 will be organized with 169 activities and events. Of which, Dien Bien province will host 28 activities and events; 13 activities and events will be carried out by agencies under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; 128 activities and events will be organized by 33 provinces and cities nationwide.
