"Bright in jade mirror" - Special works of art about legendary characters

(CLO) On April 5, 2025, at the Hoan Kiem Lake Cultural Information Center (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board coordinated with artist Bui Van Toan to organize an art exhibition of broken glass paintings with the theme "Bright in jade glass". The exhibition displays 08 works of art, introducing portraits of President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap and General Secretaries of the Communist Party of Vietnam from 1945 to the present.

This is a cultural activity on the occasion of the Hung Kings' death anniversary (10th day of the third lunar month), towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

The exhibition displays 08 works of art made from broken glass, introducing portraits of President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap and General Secretaries of the Communist Party of Vietnam from 1945 to the present. Through extremely simple and familiar materials, artist Bui Van Toan has created artistic paintings as pure as the qualities of revolutionary soldiers.

Speaking at the exhibition, Ms. Le Anh Thu - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District highly appreciated the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter for proactively creating and organizing the exhibition in line with the cultural development orientation as well as the heritage space of Hoan Kiem District; thanked artist Bui Van Toan for devoting his passion and talent to creating an inspiring art space. Ms. Le Anh Thu affirmed that the exhibition "Sang trong ngoc kinh" is a meaningful cultural activity for tourists and the public of the Capital.

"Come to the exhibition, not only to admire the paintings, but also to listen to the stories behind those works of art. To see that art can touch the heart, arouse national pride and spread the message of living beautifully and responsibly" - Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee emphasized.

At the event, artist Bui Van Toa shared: "Glass is tempered through fire to create a "clear" and durable glass product over time. Intentional impact will cause the glass to crack, revealing many shimmering, colorful "glass gems", contributing to creating extremely special works of portraits of legendary figures."

Through the event, the Organizing Committee hopes to create a space connecting the public with art, expressing the desire to show gratitude to the predecessors who brought the nation independence, freedom, happiness and contributed to creating the foundation for today's Vietnamese people to enter a "new era - the era of national growth". Through that, the young generation also has the opportunity to review a heroic period in the history of building and defending the nation.

The exhibition "Bright in Jade Mirror" will run until April 20, 2025 at the Ho Guom Cultural Information Center (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi).
