This morning, April 23, the workshop '50 years of national reunification: The role of diplomacy in peace-building in history and present' took place.

In the joyful atmosphere of the whole nation towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) , on April 23, the Diplomatic Academy in coordination with the Department of Foreign Policy and the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a workshop with the theme "50 years of national reunification: The role of diplomacy in peacemaking in history and present", in both in-person and online formats.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son chaired the workshop. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres is expected to send a congratulatory message.

About 300 delegates attended the workshop, including leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors, leaders and researchers of units within the Ministry; representatives of leaders of ministries, departments, branches and localities; many historical witnesses, domestic and international scientists; representatives of foreign diplomatic agencies in Hanoi...

The conference is expected to include two sessions: Vietnamese diplomacy and the historic victory of April 30, 1975; and the role of diplomacy in promoting dialogue, resolving disputes, and building peace in the current situation, with many presentations by scholars and historical witnesses from Vietnam and internationally.

The organization of the Workshop demonstrates the response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the context of the country jubilantly celebrating a brilliant milestone in the nation's history. The presentations at the Workshop aimed to clarify the diplomatic struggle for the complete liberation of the South and national reunification; thereby affirming the role and contribution of the Diplomatic sector in the cause of national construction and defense as well as in promoting dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes and conflicts in the current situation.

In addition to paying tribute to historical witnesses who contributed to the diplomatic struggle during the resistance war against the US to save the country, the Workshop also contributed to propagating and educating the younger generation about the struggle for national reunification, patriotism, and the revolutionary moral example of previous generations; fostering love for the profession among generations of cadres as well as young cadres and diplomatic students.

50 years ago, the victory of our army and people in the resistance war against the US to save the country caused a great resonance, becoming the greatest achievement in the cause of national liberation and protection of the Fatherland led by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, recording in history the heroic pages of the nation on the path of building and defending the country.

Celebrating this historical milestone is an opportunity to review the glorious revolutionary career of the nation; at the same time, to gain a deeper understanding of the values ​​and lessons learned from the country's practical struggles in order to contribute to the cause of national construction and development in the era of national development.
