On the evening of December 3, at the Opera House (Hanoi), the 10th National Foreign Information Awards Ceremony took place. The work Vietnamese Bookcase (for Vietnamese people abroad) by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Vietnam Education Publishing House (Ministry of Education and Training) won Second Prize - Category of Innovative products with foreign information value.
In response to the Government's Project "Vietnamese Language Honor Day" and to strongly spread the love of Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCVV) and the Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN) have built a Vietnamese Bookshelf for overseas Vietnamese.
Through the bookcase, generations of Vietnamese people living abroad can easily access national culture, strengthen their love for their homeland and country; promote cultural exchange activities, and strengthen connections between Vietnamese people in the country and the overseas Vietnamese community.
Building a bookshelf with books in Vietnamese, about nature, culture and Vietnamese people, etc. will create a good environment for Vietnamese children in particular and Vietnamese people abroad in general to practice and improve their mother tongue.
The donated Vietnamese Bookcases are a combination of many genres of books and documents to meet the diverse needs of overseas Vietnamese.
Since 2023, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Publishing House has planned to build Vietnamese Bookcases for the Vietnamese community in many countries and territories and is on the way to realizing these bookcases.
The Vietnamese Bookshelf has been present in many countries and spread across many areas where Vietnamese people live in the world. Up to now, the Vietnamese Bookshelf has been introduced to overseas Vietnamese in the following locations: Fukuoka (Japan) (August 2023), Budapest - Hungary (October 2023); Taiwan (China) (July 2024); Paris (France), Prague and Brno (Czech Republic) (July 2024). Many other bookshelfs are in the process of being implemented.
Vietnamese bookcases have received attention from local governments, and have been supported to expand the scale and number of bookcases. Governments of many countries have also had policies to create favorable conditions for a friendly cultural and reading environment for the Vietnamese community, especially the young generation - which is also a bridge to promote the connection between Vietnam and countries around the world.
Preserving and spreading national culture, love for the mother tongue, and increasing the solidarity of Vietnamese people around the world is the message that the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnam Education Publishing House want to convey through the initiative of the Vietnamese Bookcase for Overseas Vietnamese.
On August 20, 2023, in Fukuoka, Japan, the launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Bookshelf took place at the Consulate General of Vietnam. This is an initiative of the Vietnam Education Publishing House and the National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese. This bookshelf provides materials for children who are new to learning "My Vietnamese in Fukuoka" belonging to the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka and Vietnamese language teachers, aiming to support the Vietnamese community in Japan in preserving and promoting their mother tongue.
The Vietnamese bookcase in Fukuoka was the first in the world, bringing many great benefits to the Vietnamese community here. It not only helps maintain and develop the Vietnamese language for the younger generation, but also acts as a cultural bridge, helping us connect and be proud of our roots. The launch of this bookcase is a testament to the care and support of the Government and organizations for the Vietnamese community abroad. We believe that the bookcase will become a valuable source of documents, promoting love and pride in the Vietnamese language in the Vietnamese community in Fukuoka, Japan.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Vietnamese Associations in Japan.
