Coming to An Tam Safe Vegetable Cooperative, we were impressed by the lush green vegetable garden and the use of sprinkler and drip irrigation technology. Taking us to visit the vegetable garden, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, Director of the Cooperative, said: The Cooperative has 18 members, growing 8 hectares of vegetables produced according to VietGAP standards and cooperating with 30 households to grow more than 10 hectares of clean vegetables to supply the market... The members all comply with the processes and techniques of growing safe vegetables, using organic fertilizers, composted manure that has been treated with microorganisms and using biological products to prevent pests and diseases. In addition, the Cooperative also guides members to apply techniques to grow off-season vegetables, reduce pressure on main-season consumption and increase product value. The Cooperative's vegetable output reaches more than 300 tons/year, with a revenue of more than 2 billion VND.
Meanwhile, the family of Ms. Vu Thi Hue, Bai Say residential group, Muong Sang ward, was given the opportunity by the ward to participate in the project "Research on the application of building a model of growing new drought-resistant grape varieties (Ha Den variety) in an organic direction in Son La ", implemented by Son La College since 2020. With the guidance of the research team on planting, care, pruning and fruit pruning techniques, the productivity and quality of her family's grapes have been improved with each crop. Ms. Hue said: The family has invested more than 500 million to build a greenhouse and an automatic irrigation system to grow nearly 3,000 m² of grapes. This year, it is expected to harvest 3 tons of fruit, with a selling price of about 200,000 VND/kg, bringing in an income of 600 million VND.
Developing green agriculture, creating clean agricultural products, Muong Sang ward mobilizes people to actively apply smart farming methods, use organic fertilizers; minimize the use of chemical pesticides; reuse agricultural by-products and waste; apply water-saving irrigation systems and use digital technology for effective management. The program builds OCOP products, grants planting area codes, geographical indications, VietGAP certification, organic certification, safe products; attracts and creates conditions for investors to cooperate with cooperatives to improve the quality and value of agricultural products, meeting market requirements. Up to now, the whole ward has 158 establishments applying water-saving irrigation; 11 establishments investing in greenhouses; 5 establishments granted VietGAP certificates; 238 households producing in the organic direction; 6 establishments applying digital transformation in traceability, scanning QR codes...
Mr. Bui Trung Luc, Chairman of Muong Sang Ward People's Committee, said: Many units and cooperatives have actively participated in high-tech agricultural programs and projects, organic agriculture and complied with processes, techniques, and standards, gradually changing people's awareness and farming habits. Thanks to that, the average production value of 1 hectare of agricultural land reached 350 million VND/ha, nearly 3.5 times higher than traditional farming.
Developing green, safe and sustainable agricultural production is the direction and opportunity for Muong Sang ward to exploit local climate and soil conditions, build effective economic models, help farmers change their thinking and production methods, and create clean agricultural products to meet market demand.
