In the 2025 spring rice crop, the province plans to cultivate about 74,000 hectares. To ensure conditions for a successful crop, at this time, the agricultural sector and localities are focusing on directing the implementation of seed preparation, materials, land preparation, etc.

The spring rice crop is very important because the yield and quality of rice are usually the highest in the year, helping farmers achieve high profits and the spring rice production season also directly affects the next rice crop. According to the forecast of the meteorological agency, from January 24 to February 4, 2025, coinciding with the Great Cold season, is the time with the highest frequency of severe cold in the year. This period basically coincides with the concentrated sowing schedule of spring rice crops, causing difficulties in organizing, directing and implementing production.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, to ensure conditions for a successful crop, the agricultural sector and localities have focused on directing the implementation of seed preparation, materials, land preparation, irrigation, flood water collection, etc., ready for production.

Create conditions for land concentration and accumulation; promote the application and transfer of scientific and technical advances and new technologies in plant varieties, fertilizers, and pesticides; synchronize mechanization of all stages in the production process to reduce costs, improve productivity, quality, and product prices. At the same time, farmers are advised to use certified rice varieties or higher, with a high-quality rice variety structure of about 50% compared to the total cultivated area, focusing on Dai Thom 8, Bac Thom No. 7, Huong Com 4, TBR279, japonica rice group, etc.; High-yield rice varieties account for about 50% of the total cultivated area with varieties such as TBR225, Thien Uu 8, VNR20, DH12, BQ... Expanding the area of rice sown and planted by machine to over 35,000 hectares, encouraging people to accumulate and concentrate land, plant the same rice, same varieties, apply maximum mechanization in production, and at the same time produce a large amount of products, facilitating the linkage of product consumption, increasing production efficiency.

Mr. Pham Van Binh, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hung Ha district, said: In the 2025 spring crop, Hung Ha district strives to cultivate 10,350 hectares, of which high-yield rice varieties account for over 60% of the area. In order for the crop to be implemented according to the crop schedule, the Department coordinates with units and localities, and directs agricultural service cooperatives to develop plans for land preparation, supply of materials, fertilizers, pesticides, and quality plant varieties to farmers. At the same time, solidify canals, do a good job of internal irrigation, reinforce pumping stations and bridges to meet production requirements; continuously monitor weather developments to advise people to closely follow the crop schedule, develop irrigation and drainage plans for production.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Kha Dong village, Duyen Hai commune (Hung Ha) said: After harvesting 5 sao of winter squash, my family rented a plow to turn the land and leave it fallow to cut off the pest and disease bridge, help the grass decompose early, and limit soil acidification. With the propaganda and guidance of the commune's Agricultural Service Cooperative, I chose to plant TBR225 and strictly followed the schedule for sowing rice seedlings, completing sowing before February 25.

With the goal of ensuring the 2025 spring crop planting plan, Nam Thai Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited has developed and implemented a specific water supply plan for each locality and each irrigation system. This is an important preparation step to meet the irrigation water needs for agricultural production, ensuring the spring crop achieves high productivity and quality.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Thang, Deputy Director of the Company, said: The time for concentrated water intake is from January 16 to February 15, 2025, so the Company has reviewed and analyzed the water source situation and the existing construction system to develop a suitable water intake plan for each area. The plan is divided into many stages, flexible according to the time of water intake from reservoirs and river systems. Localities in the South of Thai Binh are given specific instructions on the water intake schedule, ensuring synchronization and consistency in the use of water resources. To date, the Company has repaired 94 culverts through dikes, intra-field dams, stations and pumps; solidified water intake canals, dredged channels, and released the flow to minimize water loss on the pipeline. In addition, the Company closely coordinates with units and localities to promptly adjust the water intake plan when there are changes in weather or increased water demand. Coordinate propaganda and guide farmers to use irrigation water economically and scientifically.
