Ready for a cross-border reunion

On June 27, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Le Minh Tuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Cycling Festival for Peace, said that up to now, preparations for the Cycling Festival for Peace parade and the Peace Destination Race have been carefully prepared. From infrastructure, facilities to technical conditions, communication work has been completed.

“The Cycling Festival for Peace will take place on June 29-30. Notably, up to this point, 600 athletes from 60 domestic and international cycling clubs have arrived in Quang Tri province with a ready spirit. We are confident that the Cycling Festival for Peace and the race will be a great success,” informed the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province.

Also on the afternoon of June 27, the Organizing Committee of the Cycling for Peace Festival, including representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province and Thanh Nien Newspaper, inspected the final preparations for the opening ceremony at locations in Quang Tri Citadel, Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, and Hien Luong - Ben Hai Relic Site.

Proud to be able to 'race' in my homeland with international friends

After a heavy rainstorm in the early afternoon of June 27, the sun has cleared up again, which is also the time when cyclists start training to prepare their physical strength for the race on the roads in the sacred land of Quang Tri.

Ms. Vo Phuong Thuy, from the Cua Tung Town Cycling Club (Vinh Linh District), said that after registering to participate in the Cycling Festival for Peace, everyone in the club was very excited. With the spirit of both participating in the parade and competing in the race, the club members practiced enthusiastically.

“Although we have participated in many races and conquered many routes in many different competitions, when participating in the Cycling Festival for Peace, we feel very proud and honored. Having just finished a training session with members of the Dong Ha Green Road 9 Cycling Club to prepare for the upcoming race, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Lanh said that when she registered to participate, she was proud to know that each cyclist would be like a peace ambassador, carrying the desire to win and promote the image of her hometown Quang Tri to friends around the world.

As Thanh Nien has reported, on June 29 and 30, Quang Tri province and Thanh Nien Newspaper will organize the Cycling Festival for Peace. Parade and racing are the two main activities of the festival, the opening event for the first-ever Peace Festival held in Quang Tri at the national level.
