'Sale hunting' saves money

Faced with increasing price pressure, “sale hunting” is no longer a habit of a group of people but has become a common trend of many consumers. Taking advantage of promotional programs helps buyers save costs while still ensuring product quality. However, to “sale hunting” effectively, consumers need to be alert to the “traps” of discounts that are rampant in the market.

E-commerce platforms continuously launch attractive promotions on double days, end of month days, etc.

Nowadays, with the strong development of technology, consumers increasingly prefer online shopping instead of going directly to the store. Social networking platforms such as TikTok, Facebook or e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, ... are increasingly attracting a large number of users, especially "fans" of hunting for discounted goods.

In order to stimulate shopping demand, e-commerce platforms continuously launch attractive promotions such as "buy 1 get 1 free", free shipping, time-based promotions, etc., helping consumers easily access products at affordable prices, contributing to saving daily expenses.

Sharing about her shopping habits, Tran Dang Ngoc Phuong - a first-year student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Long An Branch, said: "My financial situation is still limited, so I carefully consider shopping. In my free time, I often surf Shopee, watch livestreams to hunt for discount codes. Many promotional programs start at 12 midnight, many items are discounted up to 50%, so I often stay up late to watch for sales because the number of products is limited. Each time like that, I also save tens or hundreds of thousands of VND, and when I save up each month, I have a decent amount left to spend on other things."

Due to her busy work, Ms. Chau To Yen Phuong - a teacher at Thuan My Kindergarten (Chau Thanh district) often shops online. On "double days" such as April 4, May 5, ... or the end of the month, she often "hunts for sales" because e-commerce platforms simultaneously launch many promotional programs. "Before the sale day, I take the time to collect discount vouchers. The more vouchers I collect, the more I save" - Ms. Phuong said.

"Sales hunting" has become a shopping habit of many consumers today.

According to Ms. Phuong, in addition to discount codes from e-commerce platforms, users can also combine them with vouchers from stores and promotions from banks. When applying multiple types of codes at the same time, the discount can increase significantly, helping consumers save more while still ensuring personal needs.

Not only young people, many housewives are also gradually getting used to online shopping. Ms. Tran Thi Be Tho (Nhat Nhanh commune, Ben Luc district) said: "From Can Tho city, I came to Long An to rent a room to work as a factory worker. During difficult economic times, all expenses have to be carefully calculated. I buy all household items on TikTok Shop because there are many promotions to help save costs."

Ms. Huynh Thi Duyen (Binh Tam Commune, Tan An City) shared: “Since creating an account on e-commerce platforms, I search and watch for promotional prices for whatever I need to buy. Online shopping saves a lot of time compared to going to the market or store. The customer support policy is also very flexible, and exchanging or returning goods if there are errors is also easy. Especially, with large-value orders, if you know how to apply discount codes, the cost is cheaper than buying directly.”

However, “sale hunting” is only truly meaningful when buyers choose quality products at reasonable prices, not accepting poor quality or defective products because they are cheap. Whether shopping online or in person, consumers need to be alert when choosing to buy products, especially essential items. When buying, consumers need to carefully read the information on the product label such as product name, place of manufacture, origin, date of manufacture - expiry date, ingredients, instructions for use and storage. Imported goods need to have a secondary label in Vietnamese to ensure the rights of buyers.

In addition, consumers need to choose reputable shopping channels, not providing personal information or bank accounts to strange websites or unverified sellers. With initiative and understanding, "sale hunting" is not only an effective way to save money but also contributes to building smart consumer habits in the digital age./.
