OCOP products - tried it and found it delicious, bought it as a gift

At the Southern Traditional Cake Festival combined with the Trade Promotion Fair, OCOP products and regional specialties of Vinh Long province in 2025, customers will not only be "full of eyes" with many regional specialties, but also be able to try hundreds of delicious and unique dishes, before buying them as gifts for family and relatives.

Opportunity to promote and consume products


For many units and businesses, the fair is not only a cultural festival but also an effective channel for trade promotion. Within the framework of the festival, many typical products and specialties of the localities are displayed and beautifully decorated, from agricultural products, medicinal herbs to handicraft products.

Participating units all believe that this is an opportunity to bring their products to a large number of tourists and potential partners. The booths have clearly listed prices, many areas allow customers to try the products for free, or give away small gifts. The buying and selling atmosphere is bustling but still orderly, creating convenience for consumers.


At a booth displaying Xa Bau - a famous specialty of Soc Trang province, Ms. Pham Thi Moi, representative of Co Moi Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Production and Processing Facility, warmly invited visitors to stop by and enjoy. Ms. Moi excitedly said: “I brought to this fair 10 typical product lines of the facility, including Xa Bau, rice paper, onion jam... all of which have achieved 3-star OCOP. Many people stopped by to try it, praised its unique taste, easy to eat and bought it right away. Every night, the Xa Bau portion to try alone is more than 1kg.”


Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Phuong - Director of Hoang Phuong Clean Agricultural Products Company Limited ( Dak Nong ) said: "The fair is a valuable opportunity for each business to promote and update the latest market trends. I have participated in fairs in Vinh Long more than 10 times, the market here is very potential. We are constantly improving and developing to meet the increasing demand of the market". The company brings to the fair many products from the fertile Central Highlands such as: cashew nuts, freeze-dried macadamia nuts, lemongrass garlic cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts...

Also taking advantage of this opportunity to promote products, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Viet - founder of Nhat Ngoc Cake Company Limited ( Vinh Long City), said: "In addition to 4 types of cakes made from sweet potatoes, we also display traditional cakes to match the festival theme. This method not only creates liveliness for the booth but also contributes to the exchange and sharing with local traditional cake makers".


Bringing OCOP products closer to consumers


The fair is also an opportunity for OCOP entities to directly meet customers, listen to feedback, understand consumer needs and thereby flexibly adjust business strategies. In addition, OCOP entities all want to introduce their typical products to the people of Vinh Long and tourists.

The OCOP product display area attracts visitors' attention because it is located near the entrance gate, with about 60 consecutive booths, typical products from herbal tea, traditional cakes and jams, honey, dried fruits, soft drinks, spices... from localities inside and outside the province are all meticulously cared for from packaging to presentation.


Having a peanut candy product that has achieved 3-star OCOP certification, Ms. Tran Gia Linh - Thuy Dung Peanut Candy Production Facility (Mang Thit district), said: "This is the first time we participate in the province's OCOP fair, we have prepared quite carefully in terms of goods sources, complying with food safety and hygiene conditions. We hope to have the opportunity to meet and promote to customers, thereby expanding the market, finding more partners and customers".


Mr. Vo Van Dung - Owner of Vo Dung Herbal Tea Production Facility (Tra On District) said: "My products have met OCOP standards and thanks to the fairs, the facility has more consumption channels, access to the market, closer to consumers to gradually improve the products. On average, each month the facility supplies the market with over 1,000 products".


According to Mr. Thanh Viet, the fair is an important bridge for producers and small businesses to find more customers, partners and listen to direct feedback from consumers. “Participating in the fair is not just for selling. Every comment from customers, every question about how to make cakes or preserve products helps us improve and perfect. This is an indispensable opportunity for OCOP products to truly grow,” said Mr. Thanh Viet.


After visiting 4-5 booths, with her hands full of specialty bags, Ms. Le Thi Huyen (Ward 5, Vinh Long City) shared: “I really like festivals like this because there are a variety of products to choose from. Now OCOP products are invested in a systematic way, have QR codes, beautiful packaging, delicious flavors associated with local characteristics”.

OCOP products are a reliable choice, not only because of their clear origin and guaranteed quality, but also because each item carries the breath of the homeland and regional culture. It can be seen that seizing and taking advantage of opportunities such as trade fairs is an important key to help businesses constantly innovate and develop.
Especially in the current context, improving competitiveness has become a matter of survival for every business. In addition to some solutions such as improving operational capacity, effectively using resources, improving the business environment and conditions, developing institutions and supporting businesses, etc., trade promotion activities through fairs play an important role in the existence and development of every business.
 

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the province currently has 230 recognized OCOP products, including 2 5-star products, 79 4-star products and 149 3-star products. There are 183 typical rural industrial products at the provincial, regional and national levels. In order to strengthen the connection, promotion, introduction and stimulation of consumption of OCOP products and local specialties. Accordingly, priority areas for organizing trade fairs and exhibitions in localities include: OCOP products, culinary products, handicrafts, regional specialties, general trade; tourism products... inside and outside the province.
