On the evening of December 27, at No. 1 BaCu Street, Vung Tau City, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province organized an event to display and introduce OCOP products associated with Traditional Craft Villages in 2024.

The exhibition space has booths of 7 districts, towns and cities in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and booths of provinces and cities from localities such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Ninh Thuan, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Bac Lieu, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Lam Dong, Hoa Binh, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Lao Cai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Hai Phong, Kien Giang, Binh Duong...

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Do Minh Tuan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province said that the event to introduce OCOP products associated with traditional craft villages is an event within the framework of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Tourism Week 2024 taking place for 3 days from December 27, 2024 to December 29, 2024.

In recent years, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province has actively and synchronously implemented the OCOP program, attracting the participation of a large number of farmers, production facilities, cooperatives and enterprises. Up to now, the province has had outstanding products with high quality, imbued with local cultural identity and strong competitiveness in the market.

“The OCOP program has become a strong movement, not only in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province but also nationwide. With the goal of increasing the value of agricultural products, handicrafts, and local specialties, OCOP has created a great opportunity for businesses, cooperatives, and production organizations to promote their products to domestic and foreign markets, thereby promoting sustainable economic development,” Mr. Do Minh Tuan emphasized.

To date, the country has had more than 14,000 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, with Ba Ria - Vung Tau province alone having more than 160 products. OCOP products have quickly affirmed their position and been positively received by the market, helping farmers expand their production scale, increase product value, thereby improving their spiritual and material life.

“The purpose of the event is for localities and units to introduce OCOP products, expand markets, build and promote brands, coordinate and link up in production and business activities; promote the response to the Campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods”, create a festive atmosphere, serve the shopping, entertainment and recreation needs of the people” , said the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

According to Mr. Tuan, through this exhibition, people, officials, and civil servants will have a better understanding of OCOP products. From there, it will launch a movement of competition and mutual support to develop production and business more effectively and with better quality, especially linking the product chain with diverse types of goods and ensuring output to bring OCOP products further into the market.

Many activities within the framework of the event

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Yen - Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, assessed that at today's event, each OCOP product is considered a cultural ambassador representing regions, identities, and expressing the customs and practices of the people.

“Today’s event is not only to introduce typical products of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province and participating localities to be widely promoted, but also an opportunity for businesses, cooperatives, production facilities, traditional craft villages to share experiences, connect trade, and expand consumption markets,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Yen.

Within the framework of the event, many activities also took place such as: Organizing exchange programs, introducing products, signing cooperation agreements, livestreaming to introduce booths, promoting products, organizing seminars, technology demonstrations, discussions, etc.

According to the reporter of Cong Thuong Newspaper, right after the opening ceremony, people and tourists from all over gathered at the booths displaying OCOP products to visit, shop and learn about products from other localities in the display area.

Ms. Nguyen Hong Tham (a resident of Vung Tau City) excitedly shared: “In addition to the familiar products of the province, I am very excited to have many booths displaying and selling OCOP products of the Northern provinces. I have chosen a few products for myself to enjoy with my family.”

As of December 2024, the entire Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has more than 160 products of 82 entities recognized as OCOP products with 3 stars or more. Among them are products considered local products such as cashew nuts, cocoa, pepper, seafood products, etc.

Currently, Ba Ria - Vung Tau has 06 OCOP product display points (03 points in Chau Duc district, 02 points in Long Dien district and 01 point at the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development). OCOP products are evaluated and ranked by companies, cooperatives, and enterprises that have focused on production according to ISO, VietGAP, food safety and hygiene standards; achieved HACCP certification, VietGAP certification, product traceability, etc.
