My Dinh Stadium 'out of luck' with the Vietnam team?

According to the Vietnam national team's schedule, in 2025, the team will not play any matches at My Dinh Stadium. In March, we witnessed the Vietnam national team playing matches against Laos in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, and having an international friendly match with the Cambodian national team at Go Dau Stadium, Binh Duong .

Previously, in the final round of the AFF Cup 2024, VFF also chose Viet Tri Stadium to organize this tournament and witnessed the consecutive victories of the Vietnamese team here and the team's coronation in this tournament.

After the tournament, the leaders of Viet Tri province really hope that VFF will continue to coordinate with Phu Tho province to host national and international matches and tournaments at the team level in 2025 and the following years, especially tournaments of the national team and U23. Consider Viet Tri Stadium as a satellite stadium of the Federation when organizing national, regional and international football tournaments and friendly matches; create conditions to promote Phu Tho in sideline activities of the matches...

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan also said that the success of the recent AFF Cup 2024 tournament showed the potential for Phu Tho to continue hosting national and international sporting events. The province's policy of renovating and upgrading the scale of the Sports Complex and Viet Tri Stadium to ensure international standards will be a favorable premise for organizing major tournaments here. Mr. Tuan affirmed that VFF is ready to support Phu Tho in training professional staff, coaches, and football referees of the province, as well as support the province in hosting tournaments at Viet Tri Stadium in the coming time.

Recently, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung to urgently direct research and develop a plan to exploit My Dinh National Stadium, ensuring effective exploitation, avoiding waste and degradation; and report to the Prime Minister before April 15, 2025.

Currently, My Dinh Stadium has seriously degraded, especially the grass surface, functional rooms, and equipment inside the stadium, even though this is one of the most modern sports facilities in Vietnam.

With the current state of My Dinh Stadium as well as the schedule of the Vietnam national team, U23 Vietnam as well as tournaments for youth teams, My Dinh Stadium is not in the VFF's choice in 2025. The success of bringing national teams to compete at local stadiums has made My Dinh Stadium - a one-time symbol of Vietnamese football - no longer attractive to VFF. Partly due to the quality of the stadium, the rental price is too high compared to other localities. In addition, bringing national teams to compete at local stadiums is the goal of VFF.
