Electricity consumption sets new record.

DNVN - The latest data from the National Power System Dispatch Center (A0) shows that in June, both peak power and daily electricity consumption nationwide increased significantly. National electricity consumption reached a new record.

According to the National Power System Dispatch Center (A0), nationwide electricity consumption reached a new record. Specifically, at 1:30 PM on June 19th, the peak power of the national electricity system reached 49,533 MW. Meanwhile, nationwide electricity consumption reached a record high of 1.025 billion kWh on June 14th.

According to Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), the intense heatwave in mid-June, especially in the North and Central regions with several consecutive days of temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius, caused nationwide electricity consumption to reach a new peak.

The heatwave has caused nationwide electricity consumption to reach record levels.

Electricity consumption could be even higher in terms of both capacity and output if there hadn't been scattered rain in the late afternoons and evenings in recent days. This surge in electricity consumption also significantly increases pressure on electricity supply. EVN, along with other units in the industry, has proactively implemented a comprehensive set of solutions to optimize the operation of the power system and electricity market, and encouraged customers to use electricity economically and efficiently.

At the same time, we continue to call for the active participation and cooperation of the people in thoroughly saving electricity, especially during peak hours from 11 am to 3 pm and from 7 pm to 11 pm. Particular attention should be paid to the rational use of air conditioners.

Along with electricity saving solutions, EVN and its units have been proactively implementing a comprehensive set of solutions to optimize the operation of the power system and electricity market, increase electricity imports, and accelerate investment and construction progress to ensure electricity supply. To date, these solutions have all yielded positive results.

According to EVN, in the first five months of this year, the total electricity production of the entire system reached 124.25 billion kWh, an increase of 12.2% compared to the same period in 2023. Of this, electricity consumption growth was 18.08% for residential use, 18% for commercial and service use, and 12.15% for industrial and manufacturing use.
