DNVN - The latest data from the National Power System Dispatch Center (A0) shows that in June, both the maximum capacity and daily electricity consumption nationwide increased sharply. National electricity consumption set a new record.

According to the National Load Dispatch Center (A0), the national electricity consumption output set a new record. Specifically, at 1:30 p.m. on June 19, the peak capacity of the national electricity system reached 49,533 MW. The national consumption output reached a record 1.025 billion kWh on June 14.

Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) assessed that in the middle of June, the widespread hot weather, especially in the North and Central regions with several consecutive days of temperatures above 35 degrees, caused the national electricity consumption to reach a new peak.

The heat wave has caused national electricity consumption to increase to a record level.

Electricity consumption could have been even higher in terms of both capacity and output, if it had not been for sporadic rain in the evenings in recent days. The high electricity consumption has also significantly increased the pressure on electricity supply. EVN has proactively and synchronously implemented solutions to optimally operate the electricity system and electricity market, and encouraged customers to use electricity economically and efficiently.

At the same time, continue to call for sharing and positive actions from people, thoroughly saving electricity, especially during peak hours at noon from 11am to 3pm, and in the evening from 7pm to 11pm. In particular, pay special attention to the reasonable use of air conditioning.

Along with power saving solutions, EVN and its units have been proactively implementing synchronous solutions on optimal operation of the power system and the power market, increasing power import, and accelerating construction investment progress to ensure power supply. Up to now, these solutions have all been effective.

According to EVN, in the first 5 months of this year, the total electricity output of the entire system reached 124.25 billion kWh, an increase of 12.2% over the same period in 2023. Of which, the growth in household electricity consumption increased by 18.08%, trade - services increased by 18%, industry - production increased by 12.15%.
