In the first days of 2025, the working atmosphere at the Long Thanh airport project site (Long Thanh district, Dong Nai ) is bustling and urgent. The team of workers, engineers, supervisors and consultants work continuously to ensure construction progress.
Contractors have organized hundreds of construction teams, mobilizing nearly 7,000 experts, workers and laborers, along with nearly 3,000 modern equipment. Material trucks move continuously on the construction site, in the distance is the air control tower reaching a height of more than 100m and gradually being completed.
After nearly 1.5 years of construction, the passenger terminal construction project, considered the "heart" of Long Thanh airport with a stylized lotus design, has gradually emerged.
A team of workers focused on assembling the steel frame of the Long Thanh airport terminal roof. The steel roof structure gradually took shape with a design simulating the image of a lotus flower.
According to the report of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the passenger terminal project (package 5.10) is on schedule. Regarding the steel structure, the main truss erection has reached 96% in the wing area and 41% in the central area, while the erection of the secondary steel frame is being deployed.
In addition, the fabrication and production of the glass wall support frame system is underway and is expected to be installed this January. In the photo are the first corrugated iron roofs installed on the passenger terminal steel roof frame.
For the construction and installation of equipment for runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking lots (package 4.6), the runway is 4,000m long and 45m wide; this is an important package to ensure aviation safety for flights.

Currently, the joint venture contractor has completed the foundation and is constructing the M350/45 concrete surface, reaching about 94% of the package volume.
ILS/DME precision landing equipment has been delivered to the site and is expected to be installed from next February.
According to the plan, the unit is determined to complete and put into technical operation before April 30 this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan, Deputy Executive Director of the 5.10 package consortium of the Long Thanh airport project, said that to ensure the project's progress, the contractor consortium has planned to mobilize workers and engineers to work through the 2025 Lunar New Year.
“We will maintain at least 70% of our workforce during the Tet holiday to ensure construction progress. Although Tet is an occasion for family reunions, because this is a national key project, workers and engineers are also willing to stay and work,” Mr. Thuan shared.
Recently, ACV has officially selected design consultant ADCC and appraisal consultant CONINCO to establish and conduct appraisal of the basic design for the second runway. At the same time, prepare a feasibility study report to adjust the project component 3 of the Long Thanh airport project phase 1.
When put into operation, Long Thanh airport will not only be the most modern transportation project in the region, but also become a new symbol of Vietnam. With its modern scale and design, this airport is expected to play the role of the leading international air transit hub in Southeast Asia.
