Realizing that the economy continues to be difficult, many supermarkets and businesses said they have proactively increased the amount of popular goods. A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) said that more than 800 points of sale nationwide including: Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, ... also simultaneously offered deep promotions, helping customers easily "bring Tet" home by discounting more than 3,500 products.

Nearly 10 million Tet gift baskets sold in just 2 weeks

Since mid-December, at Co.opmart Cong Quynh supermarket (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), the Tet atmosphere has filled the stalls with brilliant apricot blossoms, peach branches, bustling spring music, cheerful miniature landscapes, the shopping space has become a vibrant "check-in" spot for people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien (30 years old) is one of the last customers at the supermarket in the last days of the year. After three years of working away from home, this year, Ms. Lien can finally arrange to return to her hometown Thanh Hoa to celebrate Tet with her family. "Working in the service industry makes me "overworked" all year round, and the closer to Tet, the busier it gets," Ms. Lien shared.

Pushing a large shopping cart around the supermarket, Ms. Lien meticulously selected each Tet gift for her family and friends. Choosing a bag of macadamia nuts, a bag of red apples, and a box of imported grapes, Ms. Lien said that this would be a snack and a gift for guests at home, the standard is unique, hard to buy in the countryside.

Not only looking for Tet gifts, Ms. Lien also took the opportunity to consult pre-packaged gift baskets. She commented that the supermarket gift baskets have beautiful designs and reasonable prices. "The quality of Co.opmart's goods is guaranteed, I plan to buy them as gifts for friends far away," Ms. Lien said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Mai Anh, a real estate broker in Ho Chi Minh City, has a completely opposite mood. As Tet approaches, she feels more worried and anxious than excited and happy.

“In previous years, this was the busiest time for me, meeting and thanking customers. But this year, the economy is difficult, the market is stagnant, so I can only sign a few small contracts all year, the commission is not enough to cover my living expenses, let alone Tet,” Mai Anh confided.

Recalling previous Tet holidays, she said that she usually spent about 20 million VND to buy gift baskets for partners, customers and bosses.

However, this year she was forced to cut her budget by more than VND10 million, focusing only on loyal customers, big customers and leaders to maintain business relationships. For other customers, she could only send greetings instead of gifts. “I was afraid of being judged as inconsiderate, but I really tried my best,” she said.

In the context of economic difficulties, considering spending to both achieve work efficiency goals and save costs has become a concern for many people. Affordable, beautiful, and high-quality Tet gift baskets are sought after more than ever.

Grasping market demand, a representative of Saigon Co.op said that the supermarket... coordinated with business partners to increase the discount on Tet gift baskets up to 20%, the discount includes promotional discounts for each type of gift basket and applies to orders worth 5 million VND or more.

According to statistics, in just two weeks of the Tet gift baskets being on the shelves, the purchasing power of the system has skyrocketed, with the supermarket selling more than 10 million Tet gift baskets through physical and online points of sale.

With a rich promotion program and exciting experiential activities, purchasing power at points of sale increased by 30-40% compared to previous business months.
