Both key players are in the final months of their contracts, but negotiations have recently made a significant breakthrough. According to The Athletic , after a long period of discussion, Liverpool and the two stars have found common ground on the terms and duration of the contract.

Liverpool made their first offer to Van Dijk in December, but the salary and terms did not meet the Dutch centre-back's expectations. Throughout the second half of 2024, he repeatedly refused to talk about his future, especially after coach Arne Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp.

However, after the loss to Fulham in the 31st round of the Premier League on April 6, Van Dijk suddenly confirmed that "there has been progress" in the negotiation process. This is the clearest sign that he is ready to stay at Anfield.

As for Salah, the "Egyptian King" once made Liverpool fans worried when he shared after the 3-2 win over Southampton in November: "The possibility of me leaving is higher than staying." At that time, he expressed disappointment because Liverpool had not yet discussed a new contract.

Liverpool made their first offer for the Egyptian in early December. There was some initial scepticism, but optimism has now returned as the two sides move closer to signing a new deal.

If nothing changes, Liverpool will successfully retain Salah and Van Dijk in their new journey with coach Slot. This is an important move by "The Kop" in the context of Trent Alexander-Arnold preparing to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
