Saigontourist Group co-organizes the Ba Be Adventure Race 2023.

Saigon - Ba Be Resort, part of Saigontourist Group, participated in and supported the race as a co-organizer and provider of accommodation and catering services for the race participants.

All proceeds from ticket sales for the race will be used by the Organizing Committee to purchase equipment and learning materials to support disadvantaged schools in Ba Be district, Bac Kan province.

The Ba Be Adventure Race 2023 consists of two stages with two different events: SUP/kayak racing and trail marathon. The race will be a competition between 15 teams (each with 6 members). One of the interesting and unique highlights of the race is that each stage will incorporate "cultural challenges," stemming from the daily life and culture of the local Tay ethnic people, such as throwing the "con" (a traditional game), archery, and rice pounding. These interactive activities will give participants the opportunity to experience the unique cultural nuances of the race location, alongside overcoming their own personal challenges.

Unlocking the tourism potential of Bac Kan

"More than just a sports and tourism event combined with charity, the Ba Be Adventure Race 2023 also serves as a boost to promote the beauty of the national scenic spot of Ba Be Lake and neighboring tourist destinations in particular, and tourism in Bac Kan province in general. With such significance, the race organizers have received strong support and backing from the People's Committee of Bac Kan province and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism," shared Mr. Nguyen Dong Hoa - Deputy General Director of Saigontourist Group.

The centerpiece of the race route is Ba Be Lake, a natural mountain lake surrounded by limestone mountains and primeval forests, earning it the nickname "the green gem in the heart of the forest". Formed over 200 million years ago, with a surface area of ​​500 hectares and a length of nearly 8 km, Ba Be Lake is one of the 100 largest freshwater lakes in the world.

The Ba Be Adventure Race 2023 route is situated in a wild, pristine natural area, featuring trails rarely trodden by human footsteps. Participants will pass through majestic and romantic landscapes, including the primeval forest in Ba Be National Park, the Nang River, Puong Cave, Dau Dang Waterfall, and more. Some sections offer breathtaking, surreal scenery reminiscent of the movie Avatar, such as the section of the Nang River flowing beneath the limestone mountains at Puong Cave. The feeling of gliding gently on the river, through the heart of Lung Nham mountain amidst sheer cliffs, is truly exhilarating.

In addition, participants will have the opportunity to visit An Ma Temple - a temple associated with the loyal officials of the Mac Dynasty, or visit Cam Village - a Tay ethnic village with stilt houses perched precariously on undulating hillsides, below which lie rice fields, corn fields, and a sky full of wildflowers.

The most beautiful scenic spots and landmarks of Bac Kan will unfold before the eyes of the race participants, indirectly reaching millions of viewers through images and videos provided by the organizers. The race will therefore contribute positively to showcasing the beauty of local tourism and cultural identity, thereby attracting potential tourists to Ba Be, Bac Kan.

Sports tourism, an emerging trend in Vietnam.

The Ba Be Adventure Race 2023 is a prime example of a new tourism trend emerging in Vietnam recently, known as "race-cation." The name of this type of tourism is a combination of "race" and "vocation." Originally referring to trips that combined travel with participation in races at the destination, the term "race-cation" now generally refers to sports tourism, which is currently popular among young people and sports enthusiasts.

In Vietnam, many running, swimming, trail running, or combined 2-3-sports races have been organized over the years.
