Eye-to-eye exchange with impressive bilingual comic book series Hanoi - Saigon travelogue
According to Ms. Doan Phuong Thoa, the bilingual book series Hanoi - Saigon travelogue is a unique work combining elements of travelogue and comic books, bringing readers an interesting journey to discover the beauty and unique culture of the two most famous cities in Vietnam: Hanoi and Saigon.
Each page of the book is a meticulously drawn, detailed picture, taking readers from the ancient street corners of Hanoi, historical buildings to the bustling streets of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City.
The comic strip brings readers a journey to discover the beauty and unique culture of Hanoi and Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City.
Author Sao Bui, who wrote the Vietnamese lyrics, said: "In 2023 and 2024, I took a trip to Ho Chi Minh City and a North-South trip. I noticed that my children were very excited about the country's landmarks. This was also an opportunity for me and my children to get closer to the cultural values of the nation. Writing this book series, I see it as a personal journey to connect myself with my homeland, while giving children a close, vivid look at the place they are living or want to explore."
"I believe that the most beautiful journey sometimes does not require flights or a suitcase full of luggage, but can start right from a book. The bilingual book series Saigon - Hanoi Travelogue is a door that brings young people, especially children, to travel through each word and each image. When reading this book series, I suddenly remember my childhood days, holding a comic book in my hand and dreaming about faraway places. That is the power of books: not only telling stories but also taking us further, understanding more deeply about people, culture and stories behind each famous place in Vietnam", MC - writer Dang Thien Phong shared.
