Accordingly, patient S (68 years old, residing in Thanh Son town) was admitted to the hospital with multiple wounds on both hands, 10-30mm in size, and heavy bleeding. X-ray results showed that the patient had a fracture of the 3rd phalanx of the second and third fingers of the right hand, with displacement.
After receiving first aid, suturing the wound and splinting the finger, along with proper treatment, after 2 days of treatment, the patient's health was stable and continued to be monitored at the Center.
BSCKI Ha Quang Huy - Head of General Surgery Department said: "Since the beginning of the year, Thanh Son District Medical Center has received emergency treatment for 2 cases of injuries caused by exploding phones, including 1 case of very complicated hand injury".
Doctors hereby advise people to absolutely not use the phone while charging or when the phone temperature increases abnormally. If an incident occurs, it is necessary to quickly disconnect the device to avoid electric shock, treat the wound and take the victim to the nearest medical facility for timely first aid.
According to experts, when using the phone, if you see the smartphone's shell become unusually hot, even burning your hand, it is a worrying sign. In particular, when you smell the burning smell of plastic or chemicals, the phone makes a hissing or popping sound, or even smoke comes out, users need to immediately unplug the power source (if charging), keep the phone away from the body and flammable objects.
Another warning sign is a swollen battery on the smartphone. In this case, the phone's outer shell may be damaged or the back may be bent, which is an extremely dangerous sign that can lead to fire or explosion. Users should regularly check the smartphone's shell, especially products with plastic shells. If you find a swollen battery, you should immediately turn off the power and take the device to a reputable store for treatment and battery replacement.
In addition, if the smartphone battery is seriously damaged and can only be used for a short time even when fully charged, the user also needs to replace the battery because a damaged battery can cause fire or explosion.
