This afternoon, March 8, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung and Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong and Le Duc Tien chaired a meeting with departments, branches, units and the Gio Linh District People's Committee to speed up the implementation of the Site Clearance Project (GPMB) to build Quang Tri Airport.

Regarding the progress of site clearance for construction of component project 2 - Construction of Quang Tri Airport, according to the report of Gio Linh District People's Committee, up to this point, the locality has presided over and coordinated with the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board (PPMU), relevant agencies and units to conduct field inspections, collect detailed data for an area of 136 ha/265.372 ha; set up markers in the field to serve site clearance work.
It is expected that by the end of May 2024, the site clearance of 135.56 hectares as required by the investor will be completed to build a passenger terminal, parking and connecting traffic area, air traffic control tower, runway and aircraft turnaround area.
From June 2024 to the end of 2024, it is expected that the site clearance for the remaining 129,812 hectares will be completed. However, according to the Gio Linh District People's Committee, the actual site clearance progress depends on many factors, especially the time frames prescribed by law regarding appraisal time, publicity, and bidding...
Cemeteries, resettlement areas, and schools have not yet been invested in infrastructure construction, leading to difficulties in the process of mobilization, propaganda, and site clearance; especially site clearance for mausoleums that do not have specific locations and locations, making temporary burial impossible. In addition, the source of land for filling up the items is still difficult; the unit price of housing, constructions, and architectural works is still low compared to current actual conditions.
Regarding the preparation for signing the BOT contract for component project 2 - Construction of Quang Tri Airport, on March 5, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board completed the draft contract. However, because the investor consortium changed some terms that were inconsistent with the content agreed upon at the negotiation meeting on February 27, the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is organizing negotiations and reviewing all the content with the investor consortium before signing the contract.
Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung requested departments, branches and localities to focus on implementing site clearance work according to the set schedule to realize Quang Tri Airport.
Assign the People's Committee of Gio Linh district to continue promoting mass mobilization work, ensuring consensus of the people. Coordinate with the Department of Construction to urgently complete the planning of resettlement areas and cemeteries. Direct relevant agencies and units to speed up the progress of site clearance, striving to complete site clearance work for an area of 136 hectares with markers in the field in April 2024. At the same time, carry out parallel steps for the remaining area.
Assign the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to develop a plan to remove difficulties in land filling to serve the Quang Tri Airport project, resettlement areas, cemeteries and 2 schools; study the plan to use sea sand as filling material.
Agree on a plan to encourage socialization in tomb relocation. Research other support policies beyond the regulations for affected households while resettlement items are not yet completed.
Regarding the signing of the BOT contract for component project 2 - Construction of Quang Tri Airport, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to work with the investor consortium in accordance with the contents agreed upon at the negotiation meeting on February 27.
