(Dan Tri) - A Korean man won a jackpot worth 1 billion won (over 17 billion VND), and immediately asked his colleague to buy another lottery ticket. Unexpectedly, this person also won the jackpot.
On December 18, Donghaeng Lottery Company (South Korea) shared an interesting story about two colleagues who won the jackpot. Both won 1 billion won (more than 17 billion VND) each, because one urged the other to buy a ticket that matched his winning ticket.
The first winner explained that he often bought lottery tickets for fun with his colleagues at a store near his workplace in Pyeongtaek City (Gyeonggi Province).
This time, he bought 5 tickets for the Spitto 2000 lottery and went to the office. Later, he discovered that one of the 5 tickets had won, but the prize was very small, only 2,000 won (about 35 thousand VND).
"Usually, I would cash in small winnings the next day while I was at work. But that day, I wanted to cash it in right away, so I went back to the store with my colleagues," he said.
The man won the jackpot, then invited his colleague to buy with him and he also won (Photo: Donghaeng Lottery Company).
He exchanged the 2,000 won lottery ticket for another Spitto 2,000 ticket and checked it on the spot. Unexpectedly, this ticket won the jackpot of 1 billion won.
Shocked, he urged his colleague to quickly buy the next ticket, saying: "The Spitto 2000 grand prize is usually consecutive numbers. Buy the next one now!".
The colleague followed suit immediately and also won the grand prize of 1 billion won.
Spitto 2000 tickets are usually sold in pairs. If one ticket wins, the other ticket in the pair is also guaranteed to win, so the total prize for the pair is 2 billion won (more than 35 billion VND).
When asked about his plans for the winnings, the winner said he "plans to pay off his debts and use the remaining money to buy a house."
