Tet Nguyen Tieu (also known as Tet Thuong Nguyen) is held on the 15th day of the first lunar month, an occasion for people to pray for peace, ward off bad luck, and hope for a peaceful and happy year. Every year, on this occasion, the Chinese community in Ho Chi Minh City organizes many activities: traditional Chinese singing and dancing performances, street art parades, lion and dragon performances, reenactments of folk games... This is an annual cultural and artistic event, a typical festival of Ho Chi Minh City in early Spring. The parade with costumes of the God of Wealth, fairies, the Eight Immortals... and many other legendary characters took place on the streets around District 5, Ho Chi Minh City. This is a cultural activity with a combination of rich, diverse and attractive content bearing the mark of the Chinese community.
The parade passed through many streets in District 5, creating a bustling festival atmosphere. The sounds of gongs, drums, trumpets, and music were extremely lively. The bright colors of the costumes brightened up the whole neighborhood.
The most special and anticipated performance was the exciting lion and dragon dance. Everyone was eager to enjoy the performances of the parade.

The Lantern Festival lasts from January 10 to the end of January, with community activities focusing on the days from January 12 to January 18, with the main ceremony on January 15. The main activities during the Lantern Festival include: The Board of Directors of the Assembly Halls and the Chinese ethnic people organize traditional ceremonies at the Assembly Halls, contributing to preserving the traditional culture of the community, performing traditional opera, Lion and Dragon dance, lantern fighting, lantern quizzes, enjoying traditional cuisine, street art parades, etc. Through the festival, many traditional cultural values of the Chinese people are preserved and promoted, attracting domestic and foreign tourists to pay attention, learn, and enjoy, contributing to promoting tourism development and economic development of the city.
In 2024, the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" will continue to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website. https://happy.vietnam.vn is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over. The contest aims to honor individuals and groups with positive information products, making practical contributions to the propaganda and promotion of a beautiful image of Vietnam to the world.
