Also attending the program were comrades of the Party Central Committee; leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; leaders of a number of ministries, branches, localities and people of Kien Giang province.
The program “Spring Border Guard warms the hearts of the villagers” is organized every time Tet comes, Spring comes, is “feelings - responsibilities”, “sharing the joys and sorrows”, “sharing the joys and sorrows”, is “gratitude” of officers and soldiers of the Border Guard towards the ethnic people in the border and island areas. The program has created a widespread influence, attracting the attention of all levels, sectors, organizations and individuals from the Central to the local level, joining hands and contributing.
In his opening speech, Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan, Political Commissar of the Border Guard, emphasized that after 65 years of building, fighting and growing, with the motto "The station is home - the border is the homeland - the people of all ethnic groups are blood brothers", generations of officers and soldiers of the Border Guard have persevered and stuck to the border lines.
With the "consensus - unanimity" of the entire political system, especially the Party committees, authorities and people in the border areas, it has created a combined strength, built a strong all-people Border Defense, a strong all-people Border Defense posture to protect the territorial sovereignty, border security, sea and islands of the Fatherland.
Speaking at the Program, President Vo Van Thuong stated that promoting the tradition of humanity, “mutual love and support”, solidarity, support and sharing of our nation; with the view that people are the center of the development process, leaving no one behind, our Party and State have had many policies and mobilized the active and effective participation of the entire political system and society to care for policy beneficiaries, meritorious people, the poor, especially in remote areas, border areas and islands. In that common effort, the Army in general and the Border Guard force in particular play an important role.
The President emphasized that in remote border areas with many hardships and difficulties, Border Guard officers and soldiers must not only fulfill their tasks of managing and firmly protecting the border, but also closely coordinate with local Party committees and authorities, and with ethnic people in border and island areas to build a grassroots political system.
Border Guard officers and soldiers actively participate in poverty reduction, illiteracy eradication, health care and protection for people, prevention and overcoming of consequences of natural disasters and epidemics, socio-economic development, new rural construction, improving material and spiritual life for people, building a strong all-people Border Guard posture, protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security.
The President welcomed the Border Guard for having many practical, meaningful and humane models and programs that have been effectively implemented over the past years such as: "Shelter for the poor in border and island areas", "Breeding cows to help the poor in border areas", "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of Border Guard stations", "Accompanying women in border areas", "Support at the border"...

The images of Uncle Ho's soldiers, "Medical doctors in green uniforms", "Teacher in green uniforms", "Commune reinforcement cadres in green uniforms" are becoming increasingly familiar and close in the feelings of border residents and people across the country.
The President was pleased to see that every year, when Tet comes, the program "Border Spring warms the hearts of the people" is bustling throughout the border areas and islands; it is a vivid proof of the solidarity between the army and the people, of the flesh and blood bond between the People's Army and the people of all ethnic groups.
The program has become a festival, contributing to cultural and social security activities, bringing joy and excitement to ethnic minorities in border and island areas when Spring comes. Hundreds of “Border Warm Houses”, many medical examination and treatment programs, free medicine distribution, tens of thousands of gifts for policy families, poor households, scholarships for disadvantaged students worth billions of VND… have been awarded.
A new house, a breeding cow, a gift bag, a kilo of rice, a banh chung (square glutinous rice cake), a banh tet (round glutinous rice cake)… coming to the people during the traditional Tet holiday are meaningful gifts, practical care and encouragement, warm military-civilian affection, full of affection.
The President stated that our country has undergone nearly 40 years of renovation, achieving many great and historic achievements. Among many development achievements, Vietnam is considered by the United Nations as a bright spot in implementing the millennium goals and is continuing to successfully implement the sustainable development goals by 2030.
The President hopes that, on the path to realizing the vision and aspiration for a prosperous and happy country, all levels, sectors, localities, organizations, individuals and unions will continue to pay attention and closely coordinate with forces, including the Border Guard, to regularly maintain and well organize humane and meaningful programs such as "Border Spring warms the hearts of the villagers" and effective, specific and practical social security activities.
Thereby, multiplying the strength of national solidarity, affirming the values of Vietnamese culture of humanity and affection, with faith, will and determination to firmly build and protect our beloved Fatherland.
At the program, President Vo Van Thuong presented Tet gifts to 10 policy households in the border area of Ha Tien city and presented scholarships and gifts to 4 Cambodian students. Leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front presented Tet gifts to 20 poor households. On this occasion, leaders of ministries and branches also presented gifts and scholarships to many students.
The program took place with exchanges and unique cultural and artistic performances praising the majestic beauty of the border and welcoming the country into spring.

* Previously, also in the program "Warm Border Spring for the People" in 2024, at Tao Dan Chieu Anh Cac Square, Ha Tien city, President Vo Van Thuong and leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the Border Guard Command presented 30 breeding cows to poor households living in Ha Tien city and Giang Thanh district.
The President and his delegation attended the Cultural and Sports Exchange Program, which attracted thousands of people to participate in many exciting activities such as Tet cake wrapping contest, apricot branch decoration, five-fruit trays; tug of war, sack jumping, and boat racing.
In addition to the activities of giving away warm houses, breeding cows, Tet gifts to people and giving scholarships to students, the Program's Organizing Committee also coordinated with departments, branches, organizations, and localities to organize "0 VND" booths and booths introducing typical local products... to support people in difficult circumstances with Tet gifts and serve the need to choose typical products of Ha Tien, Kien Giang for all people.
