On the evening of September 20, at the Roma Expo 2023: Eterna Evoluzione exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City, the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City said that in November 2023, the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) will officially announce the results of the country winning the right to host the World Expo 2030.
Previously, in September 2022, Italy nominated the capital Rome as a candidate to host the 2030 World Expo to BIE.
According to Enrico Padula, Consul General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, Rome introduced its candidacy campaign to host the World Expo 2030 with the theme “People and Territories: Regeneration, Integration and Innovation”. Mr. Enrico Padula said that it is estimated that by 2050, urban areas will be home to two-thirds of the world’s population and this will be a challenge requiring breakthrough solutions to ensure a sustainable balance for people and the environment.
Rome has been very successful in creating a new sustainable urban form, harmonizing digital services and green spaces, as well as having experience in urban management. If selected to host, Rome is confident in providing all participating countries with specific cooperation projects; creating conditions for countries to retain exhibition spaces even after the 2030 World Expo ends. Those spaces will create an international research and development center on World Expo topics…
World Expo is one of the major international events held on a global scale. With a history of more than 170 years, the event is an opportunity for participating countries to promote their identity, potential and technological achievements. Currently, there are 2 candidates competing with Rome to win the right to host World Expo 2030: Busan (South Korea) and the capital Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
