Ho Chi Minh City National University has just announced a research project on the relationship between the use of free time and the learning efficiency and satisfaction with university life of students in dormitories. The survey collected more than 21,655 responses from students of member universities.

The results showed that the majority of students had free time from 2 to 4 hours per day (accounting for 66.71%); 22.95% of students had free time from 1 to 2 hours per day; 10% of students had less than 1 hour of free time.

Most of their free time is spent by students resting, relaxing and entertaining themselves through activities such as watching movies, listening to music and using social networks. Students are also interested in self-development, however, the level of interest is still quite modest compared to other activities.

The figures show that students rarely set clear goals, make to-do lists or plan their free time in detail; in addition, they are quite limited in managing their time, exploring their interests and arranging activities in a reasonable way.

It is worth mentioning that in the university environment, students face a lot of pressure during their studies. Most students said that they feel pressure when comparing themselves with their friends and exam pressure. This shows the peer pressure in the university environment.

The study suggests that students should pay attention to balancing rest, entertainment and personal development. Universities should encourage students to form study groups to promote exchange and cohesion among students.
