Not only a literary event, the launch is also an occasion to honor the rare decades-long friendship between two sons of China - poet Thuan Huu, former Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and writer Phan Duc Nhan, former National Assembly Delegate.
“Emotions, beliefs and aspirations have become an indispensable part of their writings,” affirmed Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association Nguyen Quang Thieu.

The poetry collection Picked Along the Road is Thuan Huu's fourth work, consisting of more than 100 poems divided into three parts: Homeland - Country , Relatives - Memories and Love of the Sea - Love of You . Although he humbly does not consider himself a poet, he still leaves a deep impression with his simple, everyday poetry imbued with humanity. He shared: "I am the son of a small fishing village in the Vi Giam region, where the back is against the mountain, facing the sea. To live, to travel, to love - that is the most miraculous thing of all miracles."

Also released on this occasion is the memoir collection Far and Near by writer Phan Duc Nhan - the voice from the heart of a son of Binh Duong (Quang Nam), a land that once suffered from bombs and bullets of war. With a simple, intimate writing style, he recreates a heroic land through vivid memories, tragic stories full of humanity.
According to the Chairman of the Writers' Association, Nguyen Quang Thieu, these are not ordinary pages of literature or history. The work was written by a man who lived buried in sand, in bombs, in blood and in eternal dreams of peace... Far and near is a haunting reminder of the forgetting of the past in today's peaceful years, and at the same time a magnificent song about the will and courage of the Vietnamese people.
Both books are exquisitely designed, printed on beautiful paper, with unique illustrations. Picked up along the way has 30 paintings by artist Dao Hai Phong - who "painted the roads that poets passed through", while Far and Near has paintings by three artists: Dao Hai Phong, Do Trung Quan and Vu Trong Anh.
