Author Tran Chanh Nghia has worked at VietNamNet newspaper since 2010, with the task of monitoring the Southern news section.

In volume 2, titled “The Upward and Downward Scale Marks”, readers follow the author to many lands and provinces of the South to follow the thrilling stories, told by a direct and objective pen, hidden in which is the great love for this land, although not born but nurtured the author's passion for writing. Readers hear stories about the "hundred-pillar house" relic, the rich neighborhood in An Giang, Bach Cong Tu, the most playboy in the South, Love in Doi Ma Bay, Tien Giang, the upright tomb of Governor Tran Ba ​​Loc, the hundred-year-old stone clock in Bac Lieu, the story of raising corpses in An Giang, the "Hua family ghost" castle in Long Hai, etc.

Writing the introduction for the book, journalist Huynh Dung Nhan (Former Deputy Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam Journalists Association) shared: "These are articles about the land and people of the South, specifically about place names, historical events, characters, sometimes a legend or a popular folk phrase that few people know its origin. He seeks out the old, renews it, respects and is responsible, he cherishes the truth, is satisfied with the position of a latecomer and accepts what belongs to the category of "old for you, new for me".

The two volumes of the book "Southern Land and People" are presented logically, clearly, and easily understood, with lots of interesting information that will bring readers excitement and surprise about places, historical sites, famous people, etc. Besides interesting information, the book is presented with beautiful colors and vivid illustrations, making it easy for readers to follow and visualize.

About the author Tran Chanh Nghia: He was born in 1950 in Tuy An, Phu Yen. He has had many articles published in the newspapers VietNamNet, Thanh Nien, Tuoi Tre, Sai Gon Giai Phong, Nguoi Lao Dong, Phap Luat TP HCM, Nong Thon Ngay Nay, Nguoi Doi Thi, Xay Dung Doi Song. He published the book Nam Thang Nguoc Thuyen in 2010 published by Thanh Nien Publishing House.
