"Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One" (Mission: Impossible - Karma Part 1) finally officially premiered earlier this week in Rome (Italy), with a packed audience at the Auditorium della Conciliazione - an auditorium just a short distance from the Vatican.

The screening was delayed by 90 minutes because Tom Cruise had an apparently impromptu meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Palazzo Chigi government headquarters.

The perfect movie

The crowd grew impatient as they watched endless loops of red carpet interviews on screens equipped with Dolby Atmos sound systems for the special occasion. It was only broken by a rapturous applause when superstar Tom Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie and a large crew finally appeared. "Bravo, Tom!" - people shouted when they saw the actor.

The event is held in conjunction with the Rome Film Festival's Alice in the City section, which is aimed at younger audiences. The local distributor is Eagle Pictures, which has a partnership with Paramount. A significant portion of the hotly anticipated action film was shot in the Italian capital.

Dead Reckoning continue the event at Fallout , where Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt and his team of secret agents go on a series of dangerous missions to save the world from nuclear disaster. The 2018 installment is the highest-grossing installment in the series, grossing nearly $800 million at the global box office.

Cruise is of course joining the new film, alongside Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Henry Czerny and Vanessa Kirby. Newcomers include Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Cary Elwes, Rob Delaney, Indira Varma, Shea Whigham, Mark Gatiss, Esai Morales and Charles Parnell.

As expected, the film attracted strong attention right from the premiere with spectacular stunts. One of the most heart-stopping and visually stimulating action scenes was when Cruise actually drove a motorcycle off the edge of a cliff.

Simon Pegg, who returns for this installment after appearing in the previous five, told reporters that the core of the film is the relationship between Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie, which began in 2011 with the Ghost Protocol "They pushed, encouraged and challenged each other to move the story forward, with increasing scope and ambition," Pegg points out.

After the premiere, critics were full of praise. Dead Reckoning . Despite its high production cost, this is another triumph for the series, with impeccable action and entertainment from start to finish. Although it is only part 1, the film still holds its own, while paving the way for part 2.

"Sharp as a razor"

Of course, the resounding success of Dead Reckoning is also a tribute to Tom Cruise for his talent and dedication to his work. The daring stunt on a motorbike that he performed on the first day of filming is clear proof of this.

In the most dangerous scene of his career, Cruise, now 60, drove a motorcycle off the edge of a cliff before activating a parachute to land safely while the bike crashed. Cruise filmed the scene first to avoid the $200 million film going to waste if he was injured or… killed. Cruise had previously injured his ankle while filming Mission: Impossible 6 causing production to stall. But this cliff-diving stunt was far more dangerous than any of the previous stunts.

Tom Cruise performed the stunt motorcycle scene on the first day of filming.

"Well, after this scene, we'll know whether we can continue making the movie or not. So let's all find out on the first day!" - Cruise shared with Entertainment Tonight .

The A-list actor said he had to concentrate on the motorcycle scene, which required the utmost physical precision. "I trained and prepared. You have to be razor sharp when you do something like that," he said. "The most important thing is to put that scene first. I don't want to go shoot other scenes and let my mind wander."

When it came to shooting the scene, Cruise was just thinking, "Everyone's ready - let's get this done." For him, the moment was a combination of his previous stunt experience and the innovations of the filmmakers he was working with.

Cruise's fame continues to rise after the success of the blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick last year with a revenue of 1.49 billion USD - the 11th highest-grossing film in history. Dead Reckoning is expected to be one of the biggest Hollywood movies of the summer, if not the biggest. Even if it doesn't surpass Top Gun: Maverick , most likely Dead Reckoning will win Fallout , became the highest-selling installment of the series.

Saying goodbye to hero Ethan Hunt

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is an American spy action film directed, produced, and co-written by Christopher McQuarrie with Erik Jendresen. It is the sequel to Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018) and is the 7th part of Mission: Impossible - The action film series is considered the best, with the 18th highest revenue of all time with over 3.5 billion USD. The films revolve around spy Ethan Hunt with dangerous, seemingly impossible missions.

In 2019, Tom Cruise announced that he was simultaneously filming parts 7 and 8. Mission: Impossible with director McQuarrie. The film was scheduled to begin filming in February 2020 in Venice for 3 weeks before moving to Rome for another 40 days. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the time and location had to be changed. As an action film with many eye-catching stunt scenes, the fate of the film also encountered many storms. Typically, during the scene in Oxfordshire, where the set took 6 weeks to prepare and was the most expensive scene in the UK, a large fire broke out in the stunt motorcycle set. Luckily, no one was injured. In the end, it was not until September 2021 that the filming process was completed.

Part 7 of the series Mission: Impossible will be released worldwide by Paramount on July 12. Part 8 of the series has been filmed and is scheduled for release on June 28, 2024. These two parts will also be a farewell to Tom Cruise's character Ethan Hunt.
