Determined, unified, realizing the goal of building Hong Bang district into a Heritage district
(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of September 20, Hong Bang District Party Committee held a September 2024 Reporters' Conference to introduce the Special Topic of Cultural and Architectural Heritages in the district with the theme "Hong Bang - Origin of the Heritage District". Comrade Le Ngoc Tru, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee chaired the Conference. Attending the Conference were representatives of the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Culture and Sports, Department of Construction, Union of Science and Technology Associations, and City Architects Association.
Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Le Ngoc Tru, Secretary of the District Party Committee, stated that one of the very important highlights that creates the face of the city in general and Hong Bang district in particular is the central urban area, where many typical architectural works converge, very valuable in terms of architecture, culture and art, showing the blend of diverse and rich cultures, in which many works bear the initial mark of French architecture. French architectural works have existed and have become an indispensable part of the history and culture of Hong Bang district.
Among them, many typical architectural works are known as historical revolutionary relics or works with high architectural and artistic value and high usage value to this day, especially the headquarters buildings of administrative agencies, departments, branches and sectors of the city. Up to now, despite the ups and downs of history, the architectural works in the Central Urban Area are still almost intact. All of the above architectural heritages are valuable assets, with the role of milestones for the process of urban formation and development, contributing to the creation of a unique, distinctive and unmistakable appearance of Hai Phong city in general and Hong Bang district in particular.
By 2025, the City's Political - Administrative Center will move to the area north of Cam River, Thuy Nguyen District, which will lead to the Departments, branches and sectors of the city also moving to the new Political - Administrative Center. At that time, there is an urgent need to find a direction for the management, preservation, conservation, exploitation and promotion of the value of a series of French-style headquarters and buildings currently used by administrative agencies, Departments, branches and sectors of the city in particular and French-style architectural works in the heart of the city in general, and especially the problem of orienting the position and development model of Hong Bang district in the future.
The District Party Secretary also shared about two major tasks and orientations of great significance that the district has been, is and will be implementing to find solutions to the development problem, which are implementing the Project to adjust the administrative boundaries of An Duong district to expand Hong Bang district and the orientation to build Hong Bang district into a Heritage district.
With the goal of becoming a Heritage District, it is expected to bring prestige, honor, pride and open a completely new chapter, creating a breakthrough in exploiting cultural values, historical architecture, turning it into a resource and driving force for socio-economic development in the district. Heritage urban areas, heritage districts will then be a product of urban civilization, where not only is it a focus on developing new, spacious, modern urban architectures but also a blend with the preservation and promotion of the value of ancient French architectural works in the core urban area as the center, the soul of the heritage alongside traditional cultural elements, architecture, aesthetics, landscape, religious works, art, historical revolutionary relics in the district such as: So Dau Tower historical relic, 37mm anti-aircraft artillery position, heritage trees...
The District Party Secretary requested that after this Conference, the delegates will become active and responsible propagandists at the grassroots level, at their residence and workplace, to strongly and uniformly spread the message of the Conference to all the people in the district. At the same time, he requested that the Party Committees and authorities from the district to the grassroots level and the leaders, cadres, party members, civil servants and public employees in the entire district political system be determined, unified and realize the goal of building Hong Bang district into a Heritage district.
At the Conference, delegates were introduced to the topic "Hong Bang - Origin of the heritage district" by Teacher Pham Tue - Hai Phong Cultural Researcher with over 30 years of experience in researching, collecting and owning a huge archive of documents on French architectural heritage in Hai Phong city, thereby sharing and conveying useful knowledge about the value of French architectural works in the city in general and Hong Bang district in particular.
