This afternoon, December 6, at the People's Committee of Gio Mai commune, Gio Linh district, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien chaired a working session with the People's Committee of Gio Linh district, people of Gio Mai commune and investors to resolve some problems in site clearance (GPMB) for the Quang Tri Airport project.

According to the report of Gio Linh District People's Committee, as of December 5, 2024, the total area of land acquisition and clearance for the Quang Tri Airport project is 209.44 ha/265.37 ha; the total recovered area is 224.84 ha, of which the core area is about 120.36 ha.
Regarding disbursement progress, the capital plan for 2024 has been arranged to date at 160.9/233.103 billion VND. By the end of December 6, 2024, 105.928 billion VND had been disbursed, reaching 65.83%. Among the 3 communes in the Quang Tri Airport project, Gio Mai is the locality with the largest total land acquisition area of 150.1 hectares, having completed 102.31 hectares of land acquisition and handed over 50.84 hectares to the investor.
In addition to the advantages in the process of land acquisition, Gio Linh district has encountered some difficulties and problems such as: People have not agreed to receive compensation and support for tombs due to heavy rain, they have not been able to relocate, and there is no land fund to relocate themselves. Confirming the origin of land use in localities is still facing difficulties. According to the new regulations, the time to publicize the compensation, support and resettlement plan is 30 days, which significantly affects the progress of land acquisition.
At the meeting, representatives of Gio Mai commune households expressed concern that there is still no resettlement area to determine the land price of the new residence; claiming that the compensation price for residential land is not satisfactory. At the same time, they proposed compensation levels for the value of assets on the land for each specific case; support people to create land to rebuild tombs and make land use right certificates in the new residential area...

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien emphasized: The implementation of the Quang Tri Airport project is a very important issue, so it is necessary to make efforts and determination to complete site clearance as soon as possible as committed to the investor.
Assign the People's Committee of Gio Linh district to propose establishing a working group with the participation of departments and branches to review each household and thoroughly resolve problems, including the issue of completing the determination of land use origin of households located in the core area.
For other recommendations from the people that can be resolved, it is necessary to make the most of policies to remove difficulties for the people. In addition, continue to explain, propagate, and mobilize people to understand the benefits of the project, thereby contributing to the project's completion on schedule.
