Inspecting the construction of the two expressway projects Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang, Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh requested relevant units to concentrate maximum human resources and equipment to complete the projects 8 months ahead of schedule.
Determined to exceed 8-month schedule
On the morning of January 2, Minister Tran Hong Minh led a delegation from the Ministry of Transport to inspect the implementation of the North-South Expressway component projects, including the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang sections. Accompanying the delegation was Mr. Vo Trong Hai, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province.
Minister Tran Hong Minh asked contractors to speed up construction progress, determined to open the two projects Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang ahead of schedule.
Reporting to the Minister and the working delegation, Mr. Dinh Cong Minh, Director of Thang Long Project Management Board, said: The two projects Bai Vot - Ham Nghi and Ham Nghi - Vung Ang have a total length of 89.4km, passing through Duc Tho, Can Loc, Thach Ha, Cam Xuyen, Ky Anh districts of Ha Tinh province, with a total investment of more than 17.3 trillion VND.
Of which, Bai Vot - Ham Nghi project is 35.2km long, with a total investment of more than 7.6 trillion VND, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang is 54.2km long, with a total investment of nearly 10 trillion VND.
Both projects started construction in early 2023. After 2 years, the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi project has reached 68.79% completion, the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang project has reached 73.44% completion, basically meeting the shortened schedule as required.
In 2024, the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi project disbursed 2,094/2,270 billion VND, reaching 92.27%; the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang project disbursed 2,521/2,721 billion VND, reaching 92.64%.
Minister Tran Hong Minh gave gifts and encouraged officers, engineers, and workers to stay at the construction site on the occasion of the New Year 2025.
At the construction site, contractors have focused all human resources, equipment, and machinery to continuously and continuously construct, determined to strive to basically complete the main line by April 30, 2025, and basically complete it by June 30, 2025, 8 months ahead of schedule.
A representative of the contractor Vinaconex said that the unit is in charge of 22.7km, and is expected to complete 21km by the Lunar New Year 2025. The unit committed to completing the entire route by April 30, 2025.
Similarly, the leader of Xuan Truong contractor also committed to completing the main route by April 30, 2025.
According to the Thang Long Project Management Board and contractors, to achieve this result, in addition to the close direction of the Government leaders, leaders of the Ministry of Transport, the efforts and determination of the project management board and contractors, there is also the support of the locality in handing over the site and material mines during the construction process.
Minister Tran Hong Minh requested the Project Management Board, supervision consultants, and contractors to strictly control input materials and comply with technical instructions during construction so that the project when put into use achieves the highest quality.
Putting construction quality first
During the inspection process along the entire route, at the intersections, where the contractor is handling weak ground, unloading, paving asphalt concrete... Minister Tran Hong Minh directly inspected the construction situation, suggesting specific solutions to ensure construction quality when unloading, paving asphalt concrete...
"The quality of raw materials, especially asphalt, always plays a key role in determining the quality of the project. Therefore, the Thang Long Project Management Board, the supervision consultant and the contractors must further strengthen the supervision of input materials.
"We must use the best materials that meet international standards to ensure the best road quality," the Minister noted.
Minister Tran Hong Minh and the delegation offered incense and flowers at the special national historical site of Dong Loc T-junction.
Acknowledging and appreciating the determination and efforts of all parties, the Minister directed: From now until April 30, 2025, there is not much time left, so units must focus with the highest spirit and fastest.
"The contractor must carry out construction in a rolling manner, completing construction as it progresses, determined to technically open the two projects to traffic by April 30, 2025 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification," the Minister requested.
Taking note of the contractors' opinions, Minister Tran Hong Minh assigned relevant departments and offices of the Ministry to study the project expansion (phase 2).
