Boxing organizes first training course for professional referees

Last October, the Vietnam Boxing Federation entered a new term with many long-term and short-term plans for the development of the Vietnamese Boxing movement in both high-performance and professional sports.

More than 80 students attended the training course

To build and develop professional Boxing systematically and with quality, the Vietnam Boxing Federation has completed the personnel structure of the Professional Boxing Board with the main person in charge of this Board being also the President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation - Mr. Luu Tu Bao.

Implementing the 2023 action plan, aiming to train and select referees to officiate at professional Boxing tournaments, organized in Vietnam and internationally, and at the same time contributing to the development of the professional Boxing movement nationwide, with the permission of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Vietnam Boxing Federation in coordination with the World Boxing Association (WBA) organized for the first time a Professional Boxing Referee Training Course.

Speaking at the training course, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - Nguyen Nam Nhan said that this event marked a new development step of Vietnamese Boxing in the goal of becoming professional. The training course will help the referee team improve their expertise and learn more useful knowledge to perform their duties, contributing to the success in organizing domestic and international competitions.

The first professional Boxing Referee Training Course in 2023 took place over 2 days, December 16 and 17, with the participation of more than 80 trainees who are referees, coaches, and athletes from localities, provincial units, cities, and industries nationwide who love Boxing, are in good health, and are aged 20 and over. The training faculty are members of the WBA Asia organization, with a lot of experience and prestige. Of which, there are 3 international lecturers, including Mr. Silvestre Daz Abainza - member of the WBA International Referee Council, Mr. Nowel Guerero Haduca - WBA Asia judge and GAB referee & supervisor and Mr. Gregorio Dela Cruz Ortega - WBA Asia and IBF judge.

As this is the first professional Boxing Referee Training Course organized by the Vietnam Boxing Federation, the Federation has a policy of 100% tuition fee exemption for students who register to attend. The Federation's goal is to create conditions for students to access and improve their professional quality and join hands with the Federation to develop Vietnam Boxing to become stronger and remain true to its mission of transparency, fairness and responsibility.

At the end of the training course, students will receive a Certificate issued by the Vietnam Boxing Federation - Professional Boxing Board (VBC) and WBA Asia.
