The Management Board of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted) has just announced the results of approving the basic research project, the Nafosted - SNSF project funded by this fund to be implemented from 2025.

The Nafosted Fund's executive body is carrying out procedures for the fund's management board to approve funding for a total of 83 projects and will sign contracts with project leaders.
39 basic research topics in natural sciences and engineering
According to the recently announced decision, the Nafosted Foundation Management Board has approved funding for 39 basic research topics in natural sciences and engineering for strong research groups to carry out from 2025.

The Nafosted Foundation Management Board has also approved funding for 34 basic research projects in social sciences and humanities (including 2 projects for strong research groups) to be implemented from 2025.

10 Nafosted - SNSF topics
At the same time, the Nafosted Fund Management Board also approved the list of Nafosted - SNSF topics funded by Nafosted Fund to be implemented from 2025.
Accordingly, 10 topics were approved with implementation periods of 48 months (9 topics) and 36 months (1 topic).

According to Nafosted Foundation, in the 2024 application announcement period, the Nafosted - SNSF bilateral cooperation program received 40 applications jointly prepared and proposed by Vietnamese and Swiss scientists.
The content of the proposals spans a wide range of scientific disciplines including mathematics, information and computer science, physics, chemistry, earth and marine sciences, agricultural biology, mechanics, biomedical science, sociology, psychology, education, and economics.
During the period from April 2024 to November 2024, applications for the Nafosted - SNSF bilateral program were reviewed by Nafosted and SNSF, sent to reviewers for comments and conducted a joint evaluation.
Projects funded under the regulations must be approved for funding by both Nafosted and SNSF.
Granting funding for the first phase, expected at the end of the first quarter of 2025
The Nafosted Fund's executive body said it is carrying out procedures for the fund's management board to approve funding for the above topics.
After the project funding list is approved, the fund management agency will notify the project host and project manager to complete the documents, sign the contract and allocate the first round of funding, expected at the end of the first quarter of 2025 (depending on the 2025 state budget funding plan for the fund).
