In the second quarter, Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant is expected to consume more than 900 thousand tons of coal.

Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant (belonging to Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company) is the largest coal-fired thermal power plant in the Central region with a total capacity of 1,200 MW, including 2 generators.

The factory uses direct coal combustion technology, subcritical steam parameters with equipment from G7 countries, meeting environmental protection requirements.

Currently, the hot season has entered, the demand for electricity load across the country is increasing. Therefore, Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant is mobilizing all resources, focusing on synchronous and effective solutions to ensure safe and stable power generation to serve socio-economic development. In particular, the plant has proactively developed plans and organized work with related units to ensure sufficient coal sources for the power production line at all times.

In the second quarter of 2025, the factory aims to produce 1,979 million kWh, with expected revenue of about VND3,611 billion. To achieve this goal, the factory plans to consume about 902,877 tons of coal of all kinds. It is known that this amount of coal is purchased from the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation bids to buy domestic coal or coal imported from Laos.

In the coming time, Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation and related units to develop and implement a stable coal supply plan to ensure safe and continuous operation of generators.

Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant has 2 coal warehouses with a maximum storage capacity of 200,000 tons/warehouse.

At the same time, the factory continues to focus on calibration testing, research on innovations and technical improvements to improve the efficiency of generators, in order to reduce coal/oil consumption, thereby increasing profits and price competitiveness in the market.

At the same time, the factory continues to develop a plan for exploiting and consuming ash and slag at the slag dump to ensure maximum limitation of the volume of ash and slag remaining at the dump; strengthen promotion, expand the market, seek partners with potential and ability to consume ash and slag in large volumes and long term; complete the plan for collecting and treating ash and slag at the slag dump, ensuring proactive production.
