Good planning helps Ha Tien attract investment and develop tourism

Mr. Nghi said that Ha Tien is currently a type III urban area, with fairly synchronous infrastructure and a spacious urban appearance with its own identity.

However, Ha Tien city still has many shortcomings such as: narrow urban space, not optimally exploiting the value of land fund and urban space, organizing tourism space is not commensurate with local culture, history and heritage.

Therefore, on February 22, 2024, the Prime Minister issued a decision approving the master plan for the city and Ha Tien International Border Gate Economic Zone, contributing to helping the locality improve regional connectivity, develop the economy and achieve class II urban standards before 2030.

"The announcement of the planning today will not only help Ha Tien attract investment but also provide a strategic direction for research on reclaiming land, building artificial islands, creating land for development, expanding space, developing tourism, and local socio-economic development," said Mr. Nghi.

According to the plan, Ha Tien city develops space according to a bipolar, unified, multi-center model.

The total urban population of Ha Tien city is forecasted to be about 224,000 people by 2040, with an urban construction land area of about 4,616 hectares. The city develops in many directions with the main development directions based on the development of National Highway 80, National Highway N1, Rach Gia - Ha Tien - Bac Lieu Expressway...

Mr. Nguyen Duc Chin - Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tien city - said that the above planning opens the way for Ha Tien city to strongly develop its economy, especially tourism.

In 2023, Ha Tien welcomed over 3.1 million tourists. Of which, international visitors were over 36,000, with total retail sales and tourism service revenue of over 18,400 billion VND.

"Ha Tien City aims to develop tourism into a spearhead economy and will be a cultural and heritage destination with its own identity. The locality hopes that investors, businessmen, and people will work with the city to synchronously and effectively implement the planning in accordance with the law," Mr. Chin emphasized.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province granted investment decisions to 3 investors with 4 tourism development projects, socio-economic development of Ha Tien city, total area of over 16 hectares, total capital of 2,463 billion VND; granted memorandums of understanding to 15 investors with 17 projects, total investment capital of over 37,000 billion VND.
