On June 29, the Office of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee announced that Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan signed a decision approving the project to adjust the general urban planning of Dien Khanh until 2040.

The planning objective is to concretize and inherit the valuable contents of the approved plans and be consistent and synchronized with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 318/QD-TTg dated March 29, 2023. Dien Khanh urban area is a multi-sector economic center, with a complementary and mutually supportive development role, closely linked to Nha Trang city and supporting the development of the western mountainous region of Khanh Hoa province, with main economic activities including: tourism associated with cultural + historical values, human ecology, agricultural ecology; clean agriculture, farm economy; commercial services, industrial production, performing the role of an ecological and traditional cultural urban area in the province.

The total urban population by 2040 is forecasted to be about 250,000 people; the total urban construction land is about 11,975.9 hectares (an average of about 479.0 m2/person); of which, civil land is about 1,689.7 hectares (an average of about 78.7 m2/person).

According to the above decision, Dien Khanh urban area develops according to a mixed model, concentrated development, the core is the current Dien Khanh town with the cultural center being the Citadel area spreading to the surrounding area.

Regarding the development orientation of urban zones, Dien Khanh is divided into 7 zones. Specifically, zone 1 - the Northeast region, with an area of about 2,068.1 hectares, an estimated population of about 41,500 people; is a space for urban development and industrial production; mutually supporting development with Nha Trang City.

This is an area for urban residential development through the exploitation of interspersed land funds to develop residential units and groups of houses along the connecting axes from National Highway 1 and the Cai River. At the same time, upgrade and develop Dien Phu industrial cluster with clean industries and industries such as: mechanics, manufacturing, garment, handicrafts, ... invest in building factories to serve production.

Zone 2 - Southeast area, area of about 2,825.8 ha, estimated population of about 52,600 people; is an urban development space, commercial services have a complementary role, support development, closely linked with Nha Trang City. The area along Vo Nguyen Giap route, adds mixed commercial service spaces, promotes development and connects with Nha Trang City.

Zone 3 - administrative center area, area of about 2,559.1 ha, estimated population of about 64,900 people, is the administrative and political center of the district, is the commercial and tourist service center associated with cultural - historical values; typical human ecology of Dien Khanh.

Reorganize the central space of Dien Khanh district with full administrative and political functions. Add some urban areas, and at the same time renovate and embellish the existing urban population.

Zone 4 - regional transit hub area, area of about 2,835.9 hectares, estimated population of about 50,200 people; is a space for developing commercial services associated with important traffic routes of the province.

Promote mixed-use commercial-service and urban development at the high-speed railway station hub and the intersection between the high-speed railway on the North-South axis and National Highway 27C.

Zone 5 - the area north of Cai River, area of about 11,451.5 hectares, estimated population of about 8,900 people; is a space for developing tourism services associated with cultural - historical values, agricultural ecology. At the same time, developing clean agriculture, farm economy promotes the development of rural residential areas, creating craft villages in the suburbs of Dien Khanh.

Orientation for developing experiential ecotourism: adventure tourism, mountain climbing, sightseeing, experiencing the landscape on Cai River, sightseeing in the countryside, visiting garden houses and traditional craft villages. Upgrading, expanding and exploiting tourism services associated with the nature of Am Chua Lake area... Especially close to the culture and national relic of Am Chua, it is oriented as the main driving force for developing trade services - tourism for the entire urban area.

Zone 6 - industrial and ecological agricultural area, area of about 4,363.3 hectares, estimated population of about 19,600 people; is a space for rural development and tourism associated with industry, ecological agriculture; clean agriculture and farm economy; supporting the development of the western region.

Orientation of development towards ecological urban areas associated with the development of clean agriculture and high-tech agriculture. Supplementing concentrated agricultural production facilities using advanced methods, applying high technology with the form of organization according to the farm model. Interspersing and embellishing rural residential areas.

Develop new ecological industrial parks, develop housing, service works, and public utilities for workers working in industrial parks after 2030.

Zone 7 - industrial and service production area, area of about 8,276.6 hectares, estimated population of about 12,300 people; is a space for commercial tourism development based on upgrading infrastructure, adding new residential areas, and at the same time renovating and improving the living environment for existing rural residential areas, connecting people with agricultural eco-tourism areas and industrial production; supporting and promoting the development of the western region.

Upgrading and expanding Dien Tho industrial cluster towards the goal of attracting high-tech industries. Developing new Dien industrial park after 2030.
